Leshiy 2 vs Huben: Which would you get?

I like EDguns and all, but my vote would be for a Huben. I would rather have a non removable mag then one that is basically a 2 piece design with that funky little retaining ring. Just seems like something to drop and lose while out in the brush. Not sure I would like the trigger on the Leshiy needing to be rapidly pulled top work properly. With that said, im sure the L2 is well built. And the price in my opinion for the L2 is just a bit much for what you get compared to other airguns out there. It just seems to flawed to me. If you are willing to drop the cash on the L2, then why not consider the LCS. Or wait a while and see if ED comes out with a second gen of the L2. That could be some time though. I was surprisingly disappointing with the L2 with what has been posted about it so far. I was considering ordering one at one point. If anything wait for some more reviews on the L2 before jumping the gun. Let the guys who have to have all the new toys as soon as they come out be guinea pigs.

I would vote for the SK-19. It's all the Huben is and more. The edguns are nice (I have a .177 R5M) but they are not protected from an empty mag. ie: you can run out of ammo and still fire it. Other than that, the edgun is super nice, but I feel that in this age of guns which all have a no-shoot when the mag is empty, this is a glaring flaw.

I know for me, my next gun is the SK-19. All I need to do is save up $2.1k...

Peskadot671- Huben maintenance- Yes they are easy to take care of and maintenance. We have had several apart and replaced O-rings and such. Barrel cleaning isn't that hard either. To clean it safely you should remove barrel but that is no big deal. It's like everything else you just got to jump in and get your hands dirty and you will get educated. LOL.

i bet any fixed mag semi-auto will have that issue. lets see how the engineers solve some sort of magazine catch/bolt release in the future!

from what i gather, leyla1 -> leyla2 was essentially creating a smaller matador.

were there a lot of improvements from leshiy 1 gen1 to leshiy 1 gen2?

the durability of the huben does not seem to be an issue, from the amount of real world hunting i've seen being done with them. also from this review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-t-gK4uVA0. takes a pretty hard dive mid review

Thanks for the reply. I was just going off this old review where he states "Now the bad part" further down on the page.

you also mentioned you own both edguns and hubens. would you say one is more durable than the other in ruggedness/build quality?

LOL, have you seen the Huben pistol?

19 rounds in its pustol form is good enough for 50 yards.

have you seen huben with bottle? more power that way too...

Leshy 2 is new on the block and removable mag is a plus. But power and longer barrels with Huben can kill more stuff vs the Leshy2

Huben with a bottle????? You mean the LCS air arms sk19?

I mean this huben in the link. it requires modding but..... https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=171471.0

The LCS is fine. but i dont know if it can shoot slugs or has the power to push further.

I own both Huben and Edgun. I've been comparing all guns to my Edguns and find that Edguns always end up being keeps, due to their power, durability and simple design.

My Huben seems to be a keeper too. Although higher power you make it, it becomes more difficult to shoot accurately This (I believe) is the magazine rotation timing VS time the gun starts pushing the slug down barrel. The slug or heavy pellet gets scrapped entering the barrel. You can push the projectile deep into the mag to minigate this, but it only helps eo much.

My R5M shoots slugs at 50fpe and MOA at 100y easily. I cant be happier. It can even go higher power if I want, but I still want a shot count..

I know I dont have experience with the new Leshiy2, but I hope my info still give you insight.

Actually Ed designed the Veles pistol which was then morphed into the Leyla 1. Based on looks and function I would say some of the R5 mechanics and design were brought over into the Leyla 2.

I'm trying to recall the Leshiy 2 changes - I think the reg was changed a little, the rear stock went from metal to polymer, something updated in the valving, they started coming with the EDMU, they started being delivered in a cardboard box instead of a nice case. Possibly a few other things.

sticman77- Yes I have owned several Edguns in the past. All of them were rock solid accurate performers. No Issues with the rifles. At the time I was purchasing Edguns the Cust. service SUCKED! That's what did it in for me. I will not get into that can-of-worms at this moment. I did shoot my best 100yd group with an Edgun R3M .22 3 shots measuring .187" @ 100yds. I had a witness to prove it and still have the target hanging in my garage. But, I don't paper punch I am a hunter. I use my air rifles to hunt with. I like the Huben just for that. Have I had issues with Hubens yes. But, hasn't every manufacture had issues? I can name some but won't. The pro's for the Huben out weigh the issues that I have experienced and I repair my own problems.

"I have an FX Impact MK2 with 30 cal and 22 smooth twist X pellet liners, as well as 700mm slug liner.

After buying a 25cal SK-19, I rarely touch the Impact.

Early on, I had some jams - which were always the result of not pushing the pellets all the way in. Ever since I began sliding them fully in with a hex wrench, I haven't had a single jam in a thousand rounds.

Taking off the barrel is not difficult if you're experienced with PCP rifle maintenance and o-ring replacements, swapping barrels/liners, etc. And getting the barrel back on at the correct tightness isn't a problem for me.. I just tighten it down until it stops, then back it out about 1/8 turn.. just enough for the magazine to rotate without friction.

I used to love my faithful FX impact - nothing compared in accuracy... But the SK-19 in my experience is just as accurate with the right ammo and tune. I still love the Impact.. Just not as much as the SK-19. 👍 😎

Best ammo so far is, surprisingly, not the recommended JSB MKII pellets.. But *slugs* - specifically NSA 55gr hollow-point *boat-tail* slugs (not flat-bottom).

I would highly recommend the 25 cal SK-19 to any FX impact owner who wants to kick it up a notch. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone as your first or second PCP because there are a lot of things that can seem to go "wrong" with your first few guns which over time you begin to understand not as going "wrong," but going "as expected" under the current circumstances, which you, as a seasoned PCP shooter, can easily address.
