Tuning Leshiy 2 tuning questions?

I’ve been following the leshiy 2 threads on this forum with interest, still waiting for mine, and I just wanted someone to clarify:

(1) Power is adjustable by the user by changing the “pucks” & regulator pressure? True or False?

(2) But I have also read that the leshiy 2 is tuned to the calibre and barrel length by a special valve which is not user adjustable and needs to be changed by your dealer? True or False?

(3) If question 2 is true, will these valves be eventually made available to the user who wants to change calibre and barrel length?

Sorry if I missed the answers to these in the forum.

I am waiting on my Leshiy 2 in .177 in 350 mm barrel.

Here is something from Edgun Leshiy 2 and Andy’s of AAR. According to what is being said and posted on Edgun dealer sites and the latest from AAR. The Leshiy 2 will be HIGHLY tunable. Maybe the prototype wasn’t but the production model is tunable.

I am in the same boat as you are and continue to read and learn as much as I can while I await this new rifle.

What I have learned about this system is that it operates differently and responds differently to typical adjustments many of us are familiar with. Yes the power output changes with changes in regulator pressure. It is not as simple as decrease pressure to decrease power as a fact. Yes the power can be changed by customizing the “puck” orifice which is essentially adjusting the transfer port opening. It is not clear if the gun locking mechanism was designed for this🤔

Valve dwell rules on this gun. The dwell is regulated by pneumatic flow control components that are specific to a setup... barrel length/caliber... still working out details here. Your gun will arrive with dwell components specific to your original, primary order. In some cases, changing a barrel or caliber will be optimized by replacing the dwell regulation components.

Kits will be made available soon. Initial demand on the guns has been in the way of replacement parts, but I know that is being handled as quickly as possible.

I would encourage folks to be patient and enjoy them out of box. This is not something we need to be doing “hacks” on. I feel it is best to wait for the parts, video explanations... before going crazy attempting to “tune” this platform.

That said... I am just an EDgun fan that is excited to get my L2 in the coming months.

Information is still scarce. From what I understand:

1. The "pucks" were really only designed to satisfy the immediate needs of the 12 FPE market. The pucks are after the regulator, and after the valve, so the only thing they do is redirect the amount of air allowed into the barrel. The amount of air produced after the regulator and valve is "discharged" as wasted air. So using a puck with a restricted hole will result in a lower velocity, but increased blowback.

2. The valve dwell time is not user adjustable.

3. Sounds like there will be a component that connects to the valve which will allow change in power and caliber.

4. Regulator's can be adjusted, but more so to increase rather than decrease power. Item #3 will likely play an important role is larger adjustments.

@edgunWest. Personally, I really am impressed with you and all the EdGun network in general. This will be my first Edgun and Francisco in Spain has been great to deal with, now that the thing is 100% paid for the wait. My cousin has pre-ordered a gun from you. Now the contest who gets it quicker.

My adjustable wants are pretty simple: I want to have low/medium/high setting range for the .177 / 350 mm barrel I ordered.

@edgunwest Where do you get those cool Edgun hard cases I see all the Leshiy 2s in? I assume the case is just an adapted Pelican case. If so can you supply the dimensions of the Pelican case being used and model?

Thanks Brian, I am looking for a hard case for traveling from NL to USA when I can, and a soft pouch to put the Leshiy 2 into into my backpack. I have 4 backpacks, 2 TheNorthface and 1 Patagonia backpack duffel bags. Along with some other bags and if I get another backpack my “friend” will kill me. 🤣

Like this combo:

Which backpack is the one on the right with the Leshiy Classic? It looks slick!!! I think someone needs to start a comprehensive thread on backpacks, soft and hard cases for both the L1 and L2 with all the measurements and configurations. Also, add in an 18 cu.ft. Guppy tank, 12 cu.ft. Omega or buddy bottle that the packs could fit with the measurements.

Good night. Looks like the L2 is turning out to be nothing more then a money pit. But really, one would think that this thing would be able to be adjusted by a fair margin out of the box. I just about ordered one and Im happy I did not at this point. I still think that its a cool air gun. I sort of feel that the L2 will die off once all the hype passes through. Curious if and/or there will be a second gen or if it will (I hate to say it) be dropped altogether. I have been flowing peoples posts and based on that I have to wonder how long the L2 run will last.

@odoyle - I agree with you, to a point and there is where I do and don’t. Disclaimer I did purchase the Leshiy 2, but know limits. Again, only my view.

@elbowgrease - FX Impacts are in away money pits too, from what I see people dump into them, and me personally too. You can easily drop $500 into it and also, shame on FX for not even including some spare parts which cost a few cents for FX for a $2000 / €2000 rifle. I find the no spare parts not excusable. @edgun does include spare parts for guns in the same price range as does Brocock (Have one) and Daystate.

Do: definitely a fun factor is involved and with any semi-auto (auto rotation) you buy whether it is firearms or air arms. Because a “manual” shot handgun or rifle will be more accurate at distance. Not a ultra tunable gun and not the quietest girl depending on who you talk to, on the block. It won’t be a slug gun with that short of barrel even with what I am getting which is the 350 mm length barrel. Ed of @edgun has said, for now slugs aren’t a main priority on Edgun radar, but some changing.

Don’t: Packability and adaptability, yes, from what is coming out from like @mtnghost who has one some tunability, but like @edgunwest has said don’t chase numbers. Give me a couple of power windows, low, medium, and high and me good, and sort of backyard friendly quiet and @mtnghost said it is, or his is.

Closing disclaimer, am I agree (somewhat) and am I disagreeing / defending my purchase (somewhat). Do I think the Leshiy 2 will last yes.

Elbow grease, what do you want in a manufacturer or a gun? Someone or something that only offers a product with no way of improvements or customizing to make it your own or to suite a specific need other than the way it comes from the factory? What about a manufacturer who offers a product and accessories that the masses can buy and make it suite their cosmetic tastes and specific needs and be able to easily change it themselves . I’ll take the second one. If you don’t want a Money Pit then shop and think good and hard and try to find that one gun that will do everything you want or need. There are plenty of choices these days but most people I believe are not satisfied with one gun, one caliber, one size or style. Just like most sports, the equipment we buy is usually adaptable with accessories to make them look the way we want them to , or go faster or to better fit the way we use them. Are they Money Pits? Sure but we go into them knowing we will be spending more money but in the end we will have what we really want or need and can call it your own. It’s in most people’s nature that is why companies offer different models and all the accessories in sports. Ed and his team probably saw somewhere along the development of the Leshiy 2 the possibilities this platform had in the market and developed the Valkyrie accessories. Those and adding a CF bottle are the only other things that is offered over the standard model so far. There is talk of another regulator with higher setting in the works and Brian has mentioned he is sourcing parts here in the US that will be a simple task to install to Tune the standard model when increasing power. I don’t expect these parts to be that expensive or necessary if your content with the standard model as is. I’m sure there will be a few more accessories From EdGun and aftermarket to come on this platform just as there were on the classic. That’s smart marketing instead of offering more models.
