Leshiy 2 short comings

I too have a few great accurate Airguns to pick from but my Leshiy 2 is my go to for hunting . I’m not into shooting at squirrel size animals at distances over 50 yards and am ok on groundhogs out to 100yards. Even if the gun is capable I just make the effort to stalk within my comfortable range for a clean ethical kill. The Leshiy 2 fits my needs fine. I too would like a better trigger and have to remember every time I pick it up that I have to start to squeeze and then when the moment is right finish the pull quickly. I did readjust my Pin stop and almost eliminated the little bit of air release before the valve opens. That helped a lot as I don’t even think about it anymore. As far as a different trigger design , how about a single set trigger that cocks the trigger under preasure, but is adjustable for pull. I collect pre war German sporting rifles and they all have these set triggers most are double triggers on single shots and bolts actions but the combination guns have single triggers that you press forward to set. Then it is a hair trigger. They are very simple in design. Would just need enough bump to set off the valve but not damage valve. I already replaced the ceramic ball with a stainless steel one.

...if used correctly the system is as safe as any gun....
We have seen some posts earlier in other threads google mechanics were doing homework, and lost the trigger safety. Both on Leshiy2 and Impacts, I don't track other guns. I even advised mubhaur for not taking he's "trigger upgrade" project public. You wanna do it that is fine but sharing it - who knows who is at the other - readers side?

....Is there a post where you summarize your recommendations with various brands/models/weight of pellets/slugs in combination with different reg pressures/barrel length/mods?
I broke several pencil tips on paper :) and spent couple thousand shots until I finished my spreadsheet.
Sharing it won't work well.
The temperature + humidity + AP + what barrel + washing - weight sorting - lubing many tins of pellets - resting the gun - shooters mood and dedication .... hard to bring these stars together so we could duplicate each others tunes.
You need to shoot 2-3 tins of each brand/weight before jump to next one, and - aim small miss small ;)

I can reliably hit 1/4" asprin tablets at 20 yards with my L2 .30... That's quite a bit better than I 'need' ...

While I can appreciate the reasons folks struggle with this trigger, especially if they like to slowly squeeze, for me, the thing is just fine - it's a very unique firing experience, and works great, once you learn to use it correctly.

And this is where we get into the right gun for the job.. my L2 is a field gun, setup to hit hard, not over-penetrate, be hush-hush quiet, and drop even the biggest iguana in one hit. It's perfect for the job.

My Uragan II King .22 is vastly more accurate and has a superior trigger. I'd just NEVER want to haul it around in the field, so, yeah, it's great and has air all day - but, it's usefulness doesn't extend far beyond the bench for me.

The ball is ceramic. Hitting it with something might not do too well. I’ve considered some alternatives before and concluded whatever the alternative, it would probably need to ‘push’ rather than ‘hit’.

The pull weight is not the issue for me, it’s the break. It doesn’t brake cleanly. For me. I am a sloowwww squeeze guy, the L2 likes a more deliberate approach.

I have wondered (and if I ever get the time) I am going to design/make a trigger that ‘pre-loads’ a spring so when the pressure just starts to drop, the spring will finish breaking it quickly. Who knows…something to try.

I second that. The L2 shoots terribly if you squeeze slowly for a surprise break in the sear (which the L2 doesn’t have). It really only works with a smart pull to the rear which kinda sucks for longer ranges. That being said, it is so much fun to shoot with red dots and lasers. I guess it’s just understanding the niche item that it is.

I find my exceptionally accurate. And while the trigger is different, with practice it is more than serviceable.
For me, the L2 trigger is kind of a strange new skill set.

That makes loads of sense.

All my air rifles have nice hair triggers with a nice first stage and a short and light second.

But this gun is different. I treat it more like an assault rifle than an air gun. That means that I don't shoot with the middle of my finger pad and instead use my joint and the whole finger for leverage. I can hit a target the size of a small button battery from a watch at 50m (from a bipod) this way so good enough for me I guess.

Yes it's not as accurate as my Crown which stacks pellets on pellets but it's accurate once you get the feel for the trigger.

Years ago I posted on a different forum (when I had an L1 and a Steyr Hunting 5) that if I could have a blend of the two then it would be my perfect rifle.

Then Ed went and built it.

The trigger is the ONLY thing I’d want to improve. My RAW had the lightest most predictable trigger break ever. I’ve had Rapids with Anschutz triggers that were sublime. The L2 is just not in the same class when it comes to the trigger by a country mile.

I have the Huma action fitted - and polished and properly lubed it does improve things a touch. With the L1 I fitted a faux two stage detent that really transformed precision shooting. Some tinkerer out there will come up with an L2 solution and when they do I shall shout “Take my money!” Best rifle in the world for the shooting I do - the trigger is it’s wonky Achilles heel.

Keep the trigger. Make the L3 belt fed and with a happy switch.

Seriously though... if Ed could figure out the way to make valve timing externally adjustable just like the regulator, this would make it the ultimate tuner's gun. Having to degas to change the jets and then to refill every time you change configurations is a PITA. To me, that's the biggest shortcoming of the platform, but that's just me, I tinker a lot.
