Squirrel Nachos !! Instant Pot pressure cooker is a “game”-changer.

That is some tasty looking squirrel meat. Does the pressure cooking help the meat come off the bone like you show on the plate?

It was terrific. The Instant-Pot truly is a game-changer. Literally pushed one button and they were done in 38 minutes. The meat is so tender, and falls off the bones. Here’s what I did for this batch: Drop two whole, dressed squirrels in with about 1 cup of water, 1/2 stick butter, minced (canned) garlic, salt and pepper. Push the “meat stew” button and walk away. 38 minutes later its done. Let it cool for de-boning and add to your favorite dish. Veggie soup, nachos, whatever. Never going back to a crock-pot.

I got distracted and burned the nachos a little, but they were still delicious!

Brian, thanks... Great, informative post.

My pleasure. I’m no chef, I just love anything that streamline the “Field To Fork” process. No trade-off whatsoever with the pressure cooker. You can literally have a tough old squirrel falling-off-the-bones tender and on your plate within an hour of it hitting the ground. That includes field dressing and potting it with seasoning. About 30 minutes of that hour, the pressure cooker is doing all the work, lol. I’ve used it for my least favorite cuts of venison, by throwing it in with broth, seasoning, onions, potatoes, carrots and just walking away for 40 minutes. Tender, yummy stew that used to take hours in a crock pot, and still not be as tender. Enjoy!

i never had squirrel. nice pics!

I think you’re in the majority. I’ve tried a few Limb Chicken recipes over the years, some of them generations old. In the end, the best tasting and easiest squirrel dishes at my house are coming from the Instant Pot with minimal prep time. I think I’m going to launch my own pressure-cooker brand called “Game”-Changer 😂
