FX Leopard .25 Cal 600 mm bottle arrived. My experience.

Base on the excepcional good experience with the DRS .22 Cal I decided to go for the Leopard.

Two main objectives in mind:

1.- Extreme accuracy at long range with slugs: and

2.- Get as closer in power as possible to 100 fpe, but, without going above that. (My Vulcan 3 700 mm .25 Cal goes up to 70 fpe. Vulcan 3 HP goes farther than100 fpe, so not an alternative).

Of course shoot count is always welcome, so the Leopard tube version was not attractive.

As soon as I receive it I will share experience.

This buy was not an easy decisión. Many other rifles were candidates (Epic two, King, Uragan 3, Taipan Slash).

The two weels for hammer adjustment have been easy to use on my Panthera compact, so this Leopard should be able to shoot with a lot of power or with regular power, depending on the kind of hunting.

The lenght of the Leopard won against the comfort of the Synthetic King.

Only version available at Edgun West of the Epic Two was the tube version, so shot count would not be attractive.

Uragan 3 would not be easy adjustable nor expected power will be closer to 100 fpe, as I want.

So.... Decision taken might be wrong.... Always.... But at least was aligned with what I wanted.

I will let you know.

I recently sold my DRS T due to looks and it being spring/summer (I’m in NY and walking around with an AR lookalike may attract unwanted attention). Tough one to let go cause it was incredibly accurate and all around an awesome rifle so I share you experience with the DRS. High hopes that you report similar for the leopard, which would move it to #1 or #2 on the “next PCP” list…

Let’s start with my experience with this rifle.

My first shots were made with 33.5 grain NSA slugs.

If the micro adjustment weel is in 3.1, then the slug "sounds" like supersonic.

In 2.9 seems perfect.

The accuracy is sick on this rifle. I was shooting at 132 yards and you choose the small dot on target on which you want the slug to hit.

Ergonomics:

Butt pad is slippery.

I needed a raiser on scope rail in order to feel comfortable with the scope.

Hand grip is really comfortable.

Size is perfect.

Side lever runs perfect and smooth.

The bad:

The magazine that came with the rifle is defective. The hole is not aligned with the slug, so the slug may not be placed on the barrel. I was shooting with a magazine of my Panthera compact hunter.

Accuracy and power of the Leopard are far ahead from any of my other .25 Cal rifles, including FX, AGT, Daystate Brocock, anyone !!!

Thanks for the update Emu!

I typically prefer. 22 caliber, 30-40 fpe PCPs for my plinking and general shooting out to 60 yards.

Think it's time to look at a .25 and extend the range a bit. Have had great experience with my FX airguns so the Leopard, 700mm with a bottle is a strong contender on the watch list.

I really appreciate your review, look forward to reading more!

Cheers!

This is the result I was hoping for (at least the accuracy part).

And I couldn’t wait, picked one up here on the classifieds when it shows up (.22 600mm tube) and… it’s on its way to UA… cocking lever was jumping and wanting to open on every shot and spread was horrible (like 100 ES horrible), turns out the hammer is hitting the cocking pin every time. Tried to fix with various different adjustments and UA was very helpful with ideas/advice, even cutting 2mm off of the cocking rod (UA’s suggestion), realigning everything, taking cocking pin (screw) out in half turn increments etc. Nothing helped though and at some point they were out of ideas as well and told be to send it in… they also told me that they had a few that were doing this but that readjusting the linkage fixed it on the others. Not on this one though.

Looking forward to hear more about your experience though!

I was able to fix the two problems detected:

1.- magazine:

Four slim pieces of electrician black tape to make fatter the back stop plastic of the magazine.

With a drill bit by hand, made wider the hole of the cover of the magazine.

Locktite on the tape to avoid displacement of tape.

Silicone grease over the tape.

Now the magazine works perfect.

2.- slippery butt pad.

Two sided adhesive tape.

Black anti slippery plastic.

Now it feels ok.
