Lelya Takes Flight: Beginning Of An EDgun Odyssey

Wanted to mention that New Mexico Scuba Center on Menaul in Albuquerque was very helpful filling the Air Venturi 60 minute tank from zero to 310 bar for $10. The owner and her employee answered my questions and showed me some things. Took a total of about an hour and forty five minutes (top off after cool down). I understand it is $7.50 to fill at this point. Their compressor is said to be the only one in town that can go to 6000 psi; that it was purchased at a trade show for $18,000 ($22,000 retail). I am hoping to get video of it and the cascade tank setup. After filling the Lelya, I took a deep inhale of the tube bleed-off. I could easily breathe it, smelled like nothing.

Prepped and ready for another outing.

Once out in the forest will remove the magazines from the well-designed slots in the rifle. The magazine in the 'snack size' ziplock gets loaded up first.

So far, have shot half a tin of 16 grain Predator .25 GTO then cleaned the bore. Got quite a bit of blackish stuff out. Finally did a field prone group at maybe 35 meters with good results. Certainly no shots went out of normal scope waggle at all with this gun. Wondering if these pellets are nearing sound barrier?

It is a lot of fun

EDgun is the maker.

In the USA, EDgunWest is the supplier. Brian is a member here and is just the kind of person I like to do business with. He knows, shoots, and has worked on these guns.

Here are good resolution photos and initial opening raw videos for anyone who wants to see these recent pictures in more detail:

1:40 Video taken today shooting about 27 meters (< 30 yards) 5 shot groups, bone stock after ~150 .25 caliber, non-sorted, 16.5 grain tin pellets (Predator GTO). Could it be that the trigger has broken in? I am ‘at one’ with it now.

Wanted to check in and reaffirm that the Lelya does it well. We ended up moving after wife left her stressful job. This took away from shooting opportunities. Now we are at my land with plenty of room to shoot, but much home improvement work needs to be done. In addition, our 9 year old son seems ready to be shooting BB rifles. We got a ho hum Lil' Duke Air Venturi from Pyramid Air, as well as a Daisy 499B. We need to get a replacement BB rifle for the boy. He likes shooting the 499B except prefers repeater capability and would rather have a scope. It needs to be accurate, at least for a BB gun, but knowing that it will probably not be as accurate as the 499B. Didn't really see anywhere BB rifle discussion takes place at airgunnation.com so posting this here.

Thanks

I have one in .22 of the same color stock. Love the thing. I am very happy with the performance I get out of it. Currently slinging JSB 18 grain pellets ant 920fps. I only adjusted the power adjuster a few turns to bump up the stock numbers. Taking pest birds at 130 yards ( farthest I can shoot at my house ) with no issues. Even had done it in wind. Im using a Athlon FFP scope on mine. Im thinking about getting the upgraded moderator baffle with the 1/2 in thread for a suppressor so I can add a DonhyFL to it. Im the fence though. I do not really want to add any length to it because I love how compact it it. I personally feel that its just a bit loud. The Lelya is currently my go to Airgun.

Well. Thought a little update is due. Still holds air great. Shoots more accurately than me. Electronic gauge still works, but only use it for checking amount of pressure beginning and end of shooting session. The bolt assembly locking mechanism seems to vary as it locks. Sometimes there is clearly the sound of clicking, sometimes not. Seems like the bolt cocking lever sometimes blows back a little when shot. I do not remember mentioning this before, thinking I was not doing something properly, or my perception was off. Breech o ring seems ok but not an expert. I did email EdGunWest about this around the time the Leshiiy 2 were in the initial pre-order process, describing the situation but writing that I would prefer if he could take my Lelya and I would wait patiently for the new Leshiiy, given the limited budget in this household. Hard to say if he even got my email or I said unpleasant (to him) details or busy minds beget non response. I simply do not know but really don't want to bug him. He's one man, with a lot on his hands with the new semi automatic.

Saw this 4 minute plus video on our flashlight forum. Thought it could be shared with you. Much respect to the good people of Russia and their excellent air rifles.
