While trying to tune in some NSA .23 gr slugs, my gun stopped firing all the sudden. It sounded like the valve wasn't opening at all. I had velocity up to 800 fps with the slugs and 920 fps with 18 gr JSB's, so I don't think I was hitting the valve excessively hard. Before this, I was shooting the 16's at 890.
After pulling it apart, I found that the brass insert in the poppet had shifted forward and split the Delrin.
I also noticed enough mushrooming where the hammer strikes the shaft that I couldn't get it apart. I'm very surprised to see failure on a gun with less than 500 pellets through it.
I guess I'll have to make a new one, probably much faster than waiting on a replacement...
I should point out that aside from being pretty loud and the gauge crapping out in the first couple weeks, it's a great little gun when it's working. The build quality is extremely nice.
