Does your model have a plug on the opposite side of the tube with the regulator?
I have a repr l2 and directly opposite of the reg is a plug where you can add a gauge. I just got mine as well and haven't done much with it yet.
I don't think there is a what it should be set at as long as the reg is high enough to cycle the gun, i think it's more a personal preference what the reg is set to. You would need a chrono to see what fps you are getting to make full use of it imo, otherwise you really aren't sure what adjusting the reg is doing for you.
