Lefty .22 cal. opinions please

I would like some ideas/thoughts for a PCP that is more compatible with left-handed shooters. I won’t be able to afford more than $1000, and I will be looking for a relatively light gun. At my age, the lighter, the better. I am not a bench-shooter. I’m mainly a plinker, but I like to hunt squirrels, woodchucks, etc. Woodchucks would likely be my largest target with the PCP.

Yeah some makers in this industry exclude us or charge us more. Lol, I will be repetitive with my comment, in 22, for the money, and as a lefty, I love the Brocock Bantams, unregulated they are well in your price range, simple and bullet proof, just stay away from the 25 cals in that setup. The Fx crown is good also, but even used a little out of your price range, bull pups are not too bad for us, love the wildcat, and have a lefty cheek for it, Taipan vet? Used, you could come close with those, I’m sure there are plenty more that I have not tried. Just my experience especially for hunting as you described, good luck!

Best advice I can give you is: Keep the bolt/side lever on the right! Works much smoother (and faster too) as you can keep your shooting (left)hand on the grip, instead of taking it off it every time you rechamber a pellet.

So any airgun that does not have either A) a very defined sharp righthand comb on the stock or B) a magazine protrude very much out on the right side (although it is said that the mags on the Impact are not a nuisance in a lefty’s face) or C) have a righthand (thumbhole or not) grip are a good choice.

Another lefty here. I hunted with springers for years because I couldn't afford a left handed pcp. Save a little more $ and get a true lefty if your hunting and shooting off hand. I got lucky when a member here alerted me he had traded in his left handed Daystate Regal. I picked it up used for less than $600. It's not overly long and it's lightweight. I recently bought a left handed HW100 BP-K. It's not super light weight, but when shouldered, it's not noticeably heavy either. $1500. The Uragan Compact would be perfect, but it's also $1500.

Don't be in a hurry and get what you want. I'll never own another right handed rifle.



Don't forget the underlever rifles out there!

 I shoot lefty to,I had to put up shooting right handed rifles a long time,some are not so bad.When I finally got True left handed rifles ,my what a difference,it worth getting a true left handed rifle even when it costs more....another option I used when making up some rifles was to purchase left handed stocks for them...can be expensive,but I will keep those rifles

As far as Bullpens their are some that can work...I cheap pop that can work is a Gamo Urban....like other have said the bolt is no big deal as long it not on a Bullpen and kissing your check....some PCPs can be either right or lefty....as others told me if you go the Bullpup route get one that the cocking lever is in the middle ....Not at the end...

I'm right handed and always on the lookout for a left sided breech so I don't have to remove my trigger hand from the rifle. I think lefties have an advantage.

+3 left eye dominate. Been shooting right handed guns so long the bolt on the left side just feels wrong! Splurged on a lefty Daystate Regal. Loved the stock, bolt was just on the wrong side of the gun.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm in no hurry to buy, or rather, my wallet is in no hurry. I have a Diana Skyhawk, my first PCP, that will keep me going until I can save enough money to buy what I want. We are in the process of moving to another house, so money is somewhat scarce at the present. I currently like what I've seen of the Edgun Matador, that can be cocked from either side. It will take a bit of saving to reach their price, so I will likely change my mind several times before I can buy one. I do really appreciate the information guys.

+4 (I guess) right-handed, left eye dominant - shoot handguns righty and rifles lefty. I've never had a true 'left-handed' rifle. Closest would be the Vet which I moved the cocking handle to the left sie. But as others have mentioned, as long as the grip is ambi, I've had no problem with right cocking rifles and mid-cocking bullpups. A match trigger with an adjustable blade that you can cant to the left a bit is always helpful. 

With you ~$1,000 budget I think you should check the AoA pre-owned. There are a few Bantam Sniper HRs on sale for under $1k. As one mentioned the Leshiy is a great left-handed option and there's a few in the classifieds here. As Ed is a left handed shooter, his guns always take the left handed shooters into account.

A long history exist of leftys being treated like trailer park trash. After a dealing with this issue and a lot of guns i solved the issue. Cost a few bucks but im happy. Mk l .22. Mk ll .20. Both true left hand action. and stock.
