Tuning Learned a few things today

I made a bunch of different barrel configurations for my uragan. 65.5gr nsa at 895 fps. All 5 shot groups at 100 yards. Zero tuning done just shot 5 rounds with each configuration. Sorry no pics my son had my phone all day lol.

tension barrel ( non functioning shroud and donnyfl)

group: 1.720”



compression barrel (same)

group: 1.900”



free float no donnyfl (straight barrel, loud lol)

group:1.240”



free float with donnyfl and functioning shroud

group: .480”


This gun has a pretty nasty blast of air. Clearly it really likes the air stripped off and free floating. I was really suprised that the tension barrel didnt do the best because its rather bouncy free floating with the shroud and ronin hangin off it. This is with a 28.5” tj barrel.

I had the same results with the FX barrel. I thought tensioning the barrel would do wonders. Nope, same results as you. Free floated with the shroud and moderator worked best. That’s exactly why I test everything!

Stoti, do you think its the air blast disrupting it or harmonics?

Interesting. The degree of tensioning can also be causing an issue being either tensioned too much or too little. Playing with different settings though would be the best way. But really if your accuracy is that good free floating who cares lol!
