Stoeger Leaning to the XM1 Scout

Food for thought. Ever wonder why barrels look like they are bent down? For some reason most all times it’s bent down right? People obviously don’t like it visually yet accuracy is unfazed. In all the services I’ve done with all airguns that have this issue is because the main tube is angled slightly north due to the connection to the body of the airgun. Turkish guns are notorious for this.
When you install a band that’s mounted to the tube on a barrel that’s actually straight it will angle the barrel upwards and off the plain of the scope rail. With that being said yes there are bent barrels from time to time from manufacturers but most misalignment’s are actually due to the tube itself.
Not a complaint but nobody ever thinks of that scenario either. It’s just quick to say the barrel is bent due to the illusion.
Interesting, when mounting my optic, the rail and barrel appeared parallel and level to each other. At least according to my rough measurements.

Thank you for your generous offer Evolve 3D! I may take you up on it if needed. However right now accuracy and consistency are meeting my needs. If things change, I'll definitely keep it in mind. Thanks again!
Sure thing! Happy to help if needed. Glad you have it dialed in! I love these rifles!

Has anyone done much with .22 slugs with a scout? What are your experiences with these barrels, do they prefer .217" or .218"? I see some sample packs out there with regard to weight but I'm surprised that they don't include both diam in the trial pack.

Mine and many other SPA rifles seem to do real well with H&N 21 grain slugs in the .217 flavor.. 23 grains also worked ok however not as good in my rifle as the fore mentioned..

I haven't done anything yet but pop a round out the back door. I'll need to look into that.

Does anyone else have contact between the muzzle end and the fill cover?
I got my scout about a week ago from airgun revisions after seeing the recommendations on here. After some user error I have it zeroed in now. Loving it :)... only wish there was a better moderator available. Running donnyfl sumo

I got my scout about a week ago from airgun revisions after seeing the recommendations on here..... shoots about a 1-2 feet low at 25 yards... I'm running fx .25 25 grain through it. Ive tried 3 different scope setups. I'm going to try lighter pellets next before I send it stoeger. Disappointed. I bought a refurbished hatsan flash 22 same time and it's dead on. So even though I'm new to air I know it's not me because the hatsan is capable of under quarter size groups at 20 yards with me pulling the trigger.
2 ft low at 25yd is nuts , you running a moderator? Sounds like clipping is your issue. Call up rich @ airgunrevisions and he may be able to help over phone.

I would certainly contact AR, his after-sale customer service is why people recommend him so much.

I have used both a Donny FL Tanto and a printed moderator on my P35-25. Sound level seems similar. Printed is much lighter. Because the printed mostly takes up the space the original baffles occupied the gun is shorter with the printed moderator. So I use the printed now. I had a printed on my Prod, broke it, and eventually replaced it with a sturdier printed. Working great so far. The only real advantage of the metal moderators is they are not as easily damaged in my opinion. Either way works.

Nothing looks better than a metal moderator, imho.

The printed moderators DO moderate well and are lighter … but metal is the way .. for this air gunner anyway

tI do not worry about the appearance of the moderator very much but I do worry about the fragility. On my P35s the printed moderator is inside the metal shroud so you neither see it nor is it subject to bumping type damage. On my Avenger there isn't much space in the shroud and it cannot easily be slid to provide more space so I use a printed moderator that screws into the shroud and sticks out a couple inches. A metal moderator would stick out about 5 inches. That gun is quite long already so I like minimizing the extension. The larger diameter of the moderator threads that go into the shroud and the limited projection seems to reduce the damage potential. On my Prod I use a modular printed moderator made by Buck Rail that has metal threads in the printed moderator. The little Prod only needs a couple sections of the moderator so it is not very long. So far so good. I also like the lower price of the printed moderators but that isn't my main criteria.

I guess the flexibility of the printed moderators to fit what I need for a particular gun is part of the attraction to me. But I use the Tanto on my Caiman. I'm hoping a stiffer valve return spring will make it enough quieter it won't be needed, however. The Caiman has a multi section modular metal moderator from Air Maks but it also has a very weak looking valve return spring and I think that may make it less effective by keeping the valve open after the pellet exit. I want my guns to be quiet but the way to get there isn't as simple for me as just screwing a big moderator on it. Maybe I will have a gun I want to do that to someday but I tend to look for other solutions.
