I have been trying very hard to answer exactly that question. So far I have the major brands tested on my .22 Crown and a few other tests on my .30 Crown. Results are interesting, and don't strictly speaking line up with the mantra. I hope this helps answer your question.

I have a claque on my 707 very effective after I open up end cap clipping 10 mm thrds was very sloppy. He seemed to be a little crabby to deal with.

Neil has sent me a video showing the effectiveness of his moderator on a Sumatra. Also, over on GTA, there’s a chap named Manny with his moderator. Neil told me that Manny shot his Sumatra in a field right next to horses and they didn’t even flinch.
