Are you saying aim the laser pointer at you and look at it through a scope? While it may work, the risk of eye damage seems very high.
Not at all! I understand that part. Aim the laser down the barrel so much so that you can see it in loading port. Then turn off laser and zero scope to laser lens
 
Personally I don't even use a boresighter on firearms. I draw a circle in the center of a piece of printer paper and set it up relatively close (10yds for air) and fire off a shot. If I'm four inches low I adjust it so I'm only 1" low (30moa, 120 clicks) before moving out to 30yds which should be just about zeroed at that range. Usually only takes less than 5 shots total.
