"Lands & Grooves" ? At the end of a smooth bore BB gun ? What are they doing ?

The BB Dia. is too small to come in contact with them for accuracy,anyone know ? Thanks.....

Thanks,your probably right,I was overthinking it i guess.Thinking they were aerodynamically enhancing the accuracy as the CO2 & BB passed through them cause the gun IS so accurate for a smooth bore.
