Labradar LX.....anyone?

@bchannell What’s your max shooting distance? I think I read the Garmin being good for within 50 yards and Lab Radars reading accurately within 100 yards. I have no idea what to tell you about which to choose. I’m only trying to help the thread gain some traction here.

I have no experience with the LX. I have used the Labradar 1 for years and think it is great, easy to use and reliable. All that stuff about it having a clunky UI is a mystery to me.

If the LX is as solid as v1, has a better integrated power supply and airgun/archery trigger, then you can't go wrong. Likely I'll never know because I'm just gonna stick with v1.

I have over 150 yds at home but my testing range is 30 meters or so. I bought the Garmin and it works fine at 30 so it fits my needs. I'd like to get downrange velocities but it's not a big deal. I researched the Velociradar, the LX and the Garmin beats them all.

Where did you get a Caldwell Velociradar?

I got the Garmin. The 'LX is pretty much the same thing. The one advantage (or maybe disadvantage) is that the LX has a metal chassis, and may be more durable. OTOH, I've owned probably a dozen chronos and durability (within reason) hasn't been an issue with any of them. I also have an original LabRadar, and based on my experience with their lousy phone app, I wouldn't have high expectations for the LX app if that's important to you. (When the LR app worked, it was nice to have, but the Garmin and LX are different than LR1 and I only use the Garmin app to rename and save strings).

I'm not an expert, but I did some research on many chronos some interesting stuff. Two come to mind.
One is the Velociradar, and Caldwell customer service told me on the phone that pellets might be problematic,...soooo, that's out.

Two is the LX, which uses a combination of sound trigger, then radar takes over. If there is no sound, then the radar won't do a thing. Now, I know you can get microphones etc but not ideal for pellet rifles. The website still hawks the LX, but 2 out of 3 sites I checked shot discontinued. So, my guess is it didn't compare well to the Garmin and Athlon, so why waste money making something that won't sell.

Funny side note: I saw a youtube video of a guy shooting rubber bands off his fingers and the LX recorded every one, and he wasn't using any kind of mic. ???
