Hello everyone,
For all you fellows and gals that use a Lab Jack as a shooting aide in one way or another, here is a modification that has worked good for me. I have found that the smooth stainless top of the Lab Jack is slick and allows my Pistol grip to slide around a bit too easy. In the past I have used a shop cloth on Top but it was also slippery.
So here is my modification, I first cleaned the Top of the Lab Jack with some alcohol. Then I cut an oversized piece of some scrap Naugahyde material a bit larger than the Top. Next I applied a coat of Welwood Contact Cement to the Top and the underside of the Naugahyde and let it set up. Then I carefully placed the Naugahyde on to the Top, turned it over and added a heavy weigh and let it set up overnight. Then I used a razor blade to trim off the excess material to conform to the shape of the Top
Now I have a non-slip surface for the Pistol grip to rest on and it has really improved my accuracy with Pistol shooting. Hope you find this helpful.
