Lab Jack Shooting Aide

Hello everyone,

For all you fellows and gals that use a Lab Jack as a shooting aide in one way or another, here is a modification that has worked good for me. I have found that the smooth stainless top of the Lab Jack is slick and allows my Pistol grip to slide around a bit too easy. In the past I have used a shop cloth on Top but it was also slippery.

So here is my modification, I first cleaned the Top of the Lab Jack with some alcohol. Then I cut an oversized piece of some scrap Naugahyde material a bit larger than the Top. Next I applied a coat of Welwood Contact Cement to the Top and the underside of the Naugahyde and let it set up. Then I carefully placed the Naugahyde on to the Top, turned it over and added a heavy weigh and let it set up overnight. Then I used a razor blade to trim off the excess material to conform to the shape of the Top

Now I have a non-slip surface for the Pistol grip to rest on and it has really improved my accuracy with Pistol shooting. Hope you find this helpful.

Great idea! I haven't heard vinyl called Naugahyde in a looooong time!

Naugahyde is increasingly hard to find, since the last known herd of wild nauga was decimated by deforestation…
Hello @Scotty1

Yes, I remember when that happened I was just a youngster back then :ROFLMAO: . However if you remember the Blue Naugas were very rare and that is why I love them so much

Boy, do we have way too much free time on our hands 🤩🤩, I need to shoot more.

Who makes the barrel clamp / bipod mount you're using?
Hello @SAZ

The Barrel Band is from Buck Rail for the Diana Bandit.
The Bi-Pod is an AT-1 (?) , cannot find my paper work so not sure of the Brand but I have another one and it is labeled AT-1 and I found it on ebay.

Thanks for the info ThomasT !
Does it clamp on just the air tank tube and then surrounds the barrel without actually touching the barrel, or, does it physically clamp onto both ?
The picture's slightly blurred on my computer and I can't really tell.
If it clamps onto the barrel as well was there any change in your POI when you are using it with the bipod or on a rest?

Hello @SAZ

Yes it just clamps around the air cylinder so no problem with the barrel or POI

Looks like the one I use with my Prod from the kitchen table out to the back yard. They work great.
