kratos or akela? .22 or .25?

can someone help me out here im struggling to make these decisions. .22 has lots more bullet options and cheaper to shoot, im not sure which caliber is more accurate i read .25 is better in wind but im guessing .22 is more accurate at distance? .25 looks almost twice as expensive for half the pellets, infact the prices almost look more expensive than .22 in gunpowder. but .25 could be alot more fun and worth it right? then i seen some people are casting or swagging their own pellets is that something easy to get into and worth it?

then theres the kratos or akela, never shot a bullpup before but imagine its not much different than a crossbow. i do plan to hunt, mostly squirrelsssss but if the right mammal came into my life then possibly something bigger. i have no idea which of these rifles is supposed to be more accurate or better, and no idea if i should go .25 or 22. please someone convince me in a convincingly way

Between the rifles in .22 your accuracy will be the same as the only difference is the larger bottle on the Kratos which will give you more shots. Then you have the stocks. The Kratos might be a little large for hunting but that would depend on you. All the workings are the same between the Akela and Kratos in .22 I don't know about the .25 though.

I bought the .22 Kratos because the selection of ammo types is so much larger and the price per pellet is good. First day with the kratos here at home and I burned through nearly a full 500 count can of JSB’s and started working on a box of NSA slugs. You get so many shots per fill with the big tank that it’s easy to go through a ton of lead.
The Kratos is VERY well balanced and is an easy rifle to carry and shoot off hand.
I am loving mine. I wouldn’t sell mine for 100 bucks more than I paid for it at this point.

What about accuracy at long distance?

With JSB 18.13s it makes 1/2” groups or smaller all day long at 50 yds. That is shooting at about 850fps....power adjuster on about 3/4 power. At full power it is running about 940 if I remember correctly but I start losing accuracy at those speeds. The JSBs seem to like the 825-850 range in my Kratos.
I’m still experimenting with some NSA slugs but the 24.8gr are doing 5 shot groups between 3/4” and 1” at 50 yards. I think another turn or two on the hammer spring adjustment will tighten that up more also. They are running I think 750-760 fps, so there is still room for improvement with more power I think.
After I make the next NSA ammo order I’ll have some lighter .217s to try.

Went with the kratos in .25 and got a cheap oil less compressor off amazon for $380. Almost got a yeng hong but seen a few videos of people recommending changing the oil every time you use it and got chills, obviously you dont have to, but if people are saying that, it really makes you wonder about longevity. Plus i can keep this one in the truck since it doesnt need water either and runs 12v. Then i went to buy pellets and it really sank in how few their are. Got the jsb exact kings in both weights, the red tipped predators, and a h&n 4 sample pack which means i basically will be able to try 90% of the pellets available lol. Anyways im sure this thing will smash things and the pellet type isnt going to matter at least thats what im telling myself.

Speaking of which where does everyone buy their pellets at, if thats against forum rules then nvm. Was just curious where the biggest selection and best prices happen to be

If I was going to choose between the Kratos or Akela it's would be the Kratos. When I ordered my Cayden (love it) it was a toss up between the Kratos and the Cayden, I chose the Cayden mainly because of being lighter weight. I was very happy once I did a chronograph test with it, the gun is almost like shooting a regulated gun with a nice long string from 3K down to about 1.9Kpsi. I ordered mine on a Friday so got the free shipping and with the 25%promocode plus tax here it came out to $476 shipped. After using this gun in the woods a lot so far I'm extremely happy with it.

I've had YH a couple years now and first I've heard of changing the oil every fill thats ridiculous and unecessary. Use good oil and itll last a while.

Good luck with the oil less compressor haven't seen those last at all.

yeah i seen the oil change thing multiple times, in reviews on amazon i think, and youtube video's "one of the few guys who does reviews on them" im sure you've seen his video's. all ive heard left and right is those watered pumps failing after a year or 2. which may or may not be because they are the no-name/knockoff's. then i looked and seen the waterless pumps had twice the reviews on amazon. i really couldn't find much info on the waterless pumpes aside from the amazon reviews, if you have some links id love to seem them as i can still return it. but i figuer with my credit card doubling the warrenty to 2 years and i can still add a 4 year warrenty ontop of that for $40 its fairly riskfree

edit: also ive heard of peoples tanks smelling like oil from the YH which means oil gets past its seals, which means water might as well. both of which are things id prefer less of, not more of

well unboxed the kratos, the wood sure is pretty on it, all the lines are so crisp but like i seen in a few other threads the wood sure looks dry. anyways few observations, the wood feels a bit thin around the bottle, a decent drop or smack and i could easily see that shattering. secondly thats naturally where my hand wants to hold it, right under the bottle on that wood, but that also happens to be the one spot on the gun with no checkering of the wood??? its so strange the checkering, its almost like they put it on only for decoration, even looking at that cayden, only my pinky finger would be touching the checkering. lastly and kind of the deal breaker for me, its definitely lighter and much much better balanced than the wooden marauder tree stump. however it doesn't have a scope on it yet and my arms get tired after holding for about 20 seconds lol. so i don't imagine trekking through the woods and glassing trees will go over very well which sux because apparently crosman has a 15% restocking fee that i didn't know about. im sure it could work as a squirrel gun its just going to be a bit more exhausting than i had realized.
