Further to my comment a couple of posts up - Businesses like Krale have also been adversely impacted by the tariff war. Due to lost business/revenue, I'm sure that they don't much like the current occupant of the White House, and may look less favorably on the USA in general.

So assistance in this matter would most likely have to come from the UPS side of things (re-calculate duties based on the programs in effect TODAY). Not likely to get much help from Krale (they already have your money and may already be fed up with these new issues they are facing).

I hate to agree with you... . But you are right!!

It was foolish of me to not do my homework first, before ordering from Krale. I was aware of the tariff import fees, etc, but after hearing that there was a 90 day thaw, I assume it was OK for now. Plus, I assumed that I would 'see' tariff fees at order time. It was not good for Bernie to 'assume' with so much uncertainty.

If I refuse the UPS package, I could still be liable for the tariff import fee. Plus with no RMA, Krale could possibly never refund my money.

Bottom line... Unless things change, I'll pay the $860 import fee to UPS and keep the P35X.

It's only money... no one died.... all is good!

I will post status if/when this changes.

Try to get ahold of a US customs agency. UPS is a broker and basically a 3rd party. For some reason I think there’s usually an office by airports if you have one local. Of course I could be mixed up.
If you can get it sorted and paid through customs. UPS would only be owed there minor fees.Probably going to be a big hassle. UPS has your package hostage at the moment.
Good luck. It’s all total BS anyways. This is all supposed to suspended for 90 days. It’s mass confusion and no one knows what’s going on.

That may be so but once the product leaves the shipping dock Krale has fulfilled their end of the contract. The shipping company now has the responsibility to get the product to the end user. Krale would need a special department to keep track of all the countries import fees, especially the US that seems to change daily on a whim.

You might want to delay the delivery instead of refuse it (at least initially). UPS used to hold packages ('vacation hold') at a local hub for no cost. Don't know if that is still the case (what is free any more?).

But if you did a vacation hold for a couple of days with UPS, it might give you more breathing room (time) in your attempts to get duties re-calculated at today's lower rate.

Why would/should any company want to take on that cost and responsibility? It is up to the purchaser to contact their local customs office, explain what has been purchased, cost and country of origin. The customs office would then give them an idea of the import fees on that day, subject to change. It is unfair to ask someone else to to do something you can do yourself.

The only good thing about this thread is it highlights an issue so everyone else can be forewarned

What are you talking about? I was under the assumption given the context of this post that there wasn’t one. That’s what I stated should be done. It has been. One would assume there wouldn’t be a post by a surprised consumer when to his shock an unexpected $860 bill is due to UPS.
