Kral bighorn 357

That really sounds great, I have no experience with big bores but I have been shooting air rifles for 34 years, and pcp for 6 of those. I made the decision to get set up with my favorite caliber.257, and then go up .100. Correct me if I’m wrong but my shot count across the board will higher if I stay below 45 cal., and have a slightly flatter trajectory overall? One last thing will I feel the difference between the 257 and 357 as far as sheer knock down power is concerned? I envision the 257 being my long range coyote rifle, and the 357 as a deer size caliber, of course inside of 75 yards. Both rifles mainly shooting slugs, sorry for all the questions but this is two of the 3 rifles on my retirement list. Thanks

I have the 25 Bighorn. I got it from Troy, I removed the choke and shoot my cast bullets in it from MPMolds. Troy tuned it with my bullets I sent him, It gets two 10 round magazines in the 82 to 84 FPE range with the choke removed and using 44.5 gta in hp’s.

I really like it, a 28 inch TJ 25 acp barrel would get me very close to 100 FPE with my 44.5 grain hp’s , I just have trouble justifying a TJ with power it gets now.

Yep I hear good stuff about Troy, My Sam Yang in 25 is doing mid to upper 80 FPE stock with cast bullets, I am wanting to purchase from MP molds I am still studying on what mold to purchase, I know I want a mold that drops .252 if that is possible and the other will be in the neighborhood of .257. Yep looking forward to my purchase from Troy he sure has a healthy fallowing. Thanks

I have the aluminum 8 cavity mold that drops a 47 grain BTRN, though I do hate aluminum high capacity molds, I also have the brass 3 cavity 44.5 hp. Both molds struggle to drop anything over .252 with pure lead but will do it with some tin added to put the alloy at 20-1 to 30-1.

I have a Texan LSS in .257, I cast the Arsenal 257420 bt in a 2 cavity Arsenal mold, it gets better than 205 FPE. Arsenal will cut a mold to drop at the specified alloy and diameter within reason, meaning a .243 or .257 design in .252 diameter if you specify during the checkout process. They do have a 7 month wait last time I checked.

MPMolds will ship with FedEx and get it to you from Eastern Europe in about a week, IF THE MOLD IS IN STOCK. I waited a couple years for the brass 3 cavity hp mold.

Yes, Troy is. Great guy to deal with.

Wow did not know it takes so long for molds, as soon as I know bore dimensions I will start looking into mold for the 257, I might go ahead and order a mold for the 252, I picked up a smelter/furnace the other day so I have a start going. Thanks for all the info, I really like the Texan but have opted for the bighorn in 257, I hear 150 fpe so we’ll see.

A 257 Bighorn would be a custom project, the Bighorn 25 is a .250-.251 groove diameter rifle. Unless your planning on using it as a single shot You would need to have a custom bullet design for a short 257 bullet to fit through the magazine. You could maybe take a 25 mold and have Eric at Hollowpointmold service open up the base to throw a .257 slug, not sure if going that far with the base band is possible.

The mold I mentioned that I had Arsenal change the diameter came out as a 57 grain bullet, that bullet is too long for the Kral Bighorn magazine. But as a .252 it is a fantastic slug shooter once you amputate the choke. My choke was so tight, when I cut it off, just shy of 2 inches removed, I lost no velocity.

Short magazines are a problem for us airgun slug shooters.
