AirMaks Arms Krait owners speak up

Currently using STO Falx with moderate flow core. All Krait baffles attached. I tried without baffles and I feel it is significantly louder but mine is .25, yours may be different. And regardless of air signature the hammer makes loud click, too. I shoot from indoor with my target placed outside, in backyard, this way I can get as far as 25-30 yards out. Major noise remains inside the house. I recorded the session with a phone placed at backyard, out of curiosity. I can hear pretty loud click and most of it comes from pellet trap, still might be disturbing for neighbors. So I do my "home long range" sessions mostly when there is any other activity present nearby i.e. lawn mowers, constructions etc. Otherwise I shoot indoor only, 15 yards, to develop standing skills.

Honestly, I don't think you will need to adjust the regulator that often. Looks like this rifle is tunable within 50-80 fps with a hammer tension only. Btw I like Huben dream regulator on my Notos for this reason - you can simply close bottle valve and decompress without draining. I played a lot with that one.

Krait standard 0.22 is really interesting rifle.
Is light & short and shoot well.

I was confidence that those regulator problems was solvet with those mk4 reg.

But now i don't know how it is.
Really like to buy one, but for my luck it can be bad one?

All things in youtube is not 100% true, but can that comment be right.

Is that reg really with some wrong parts after huma-air?

Potentially The Best Compact Hunting Rifle - AirMaks Krait - Range and Country

I loved mine initially but regulator issues (MK4 Reg) forced me to swap it for a Panthera.

I've had an AirMax Krait air rifle with the a MK4 regulator from Huma (the one with four holes for the adjustment key) for several months now. Unfortunately, from the very beginning, the regulator had severe creep issues. I was disappointed with the rifle and even considered returning it, even though I really liked it. I knew that earlier versions of the regulators and monoblocks had problems with creep, but my version was supposedly free from this defect.

Unfortunately, I was badly disappointed because mine also suffered from creep. I suspected there was an issue with the regulator. So I ordered a spare regulator from the Huma store. After replacing the regulator with the newly purchased one, the creep problem still remained. I disassembled both regulators and examined them - they looked perfect, yet they didn't work properly.

I then ordered a repair kit for this regulator from Huma, as well as two additional disks separately. I received a repair kit in one ziplock bag, but half of the O-rings didn't match my version of the regulator, along with two original beige disks. In the second bag, instead of two more disks for the Krait, I found O-rings for the FX Gen 1-2-3 and two disks for FX. I was a bit annoyed by this.

I began replacing the O-rings and disks in my regulator, but there was no improvement - the regulator still crept terribly. Out of curiosity, I finally installed a disk from the FX, and it was a bullseye. The regulator came back to life. There's absolutely no creep now, and it's very precise.

The original disk in the regulator is beige and has a diameter of approximately 4.10 mm - 4.13 mm and a thickness of 1.37 mm - 1.42 mm (1 measured two disks). The FX disk has a diameter of 4.08 mm and a thickness of 1.05 mm, and it is white. It seems to me life. There's absolutely no creep now, and it's very precise.

It seems to me that the original disks are too thick and don't allow air to pass properly through the holes in the side wall of the regulator cylinder. Huma should take a close look at this, because it appears this is whe
re the problem lies.
This is disappointing to read, I have a krait L hp .25 on order. I should get it next week. I would assume by rev 4 the regulator should work perfectly. How many bar did it creep?

@Dstrac
I've got new Krait 25 early this week. Pressure did not change visually between shooting sessions, not a a fraction of bar.
What I noticed, first shot speed depends on hammer tension (with the same regulator settings). I got rifle set to 890 originally. Was too loud and consumed air very fast, could shot barely 3 magazines on full tank. In my experiment I released hammer significantly i.e. 1 full turn and more, it reduced the speed over 80 fps. At that point, if I leave the rifle for a day, first shot goes about 30 fps lower. I added hammer tension back to 870 and don't see speed dropping over the past 2 nights. First round can be few fps lower, i.e. 2-5 but nothing terrible, all within standard deviation.

Thats good to hear. What size ammo are you shooting? I have 30gr and 34gr that i was planning using

Krait l .22 did shoot video 18 grain pellet for 875fps.
Reg set about 90bar.
Moderator was 110mm short Donnyfl fatboy and barrel with 2 krait original baffle.
Gun did sound very silent.

Also did shoot 15.89 grain pellet for 890fps.
Videos was addicted 2 air youtube.

How much Krait compact .22 need reg pressure for about same speed and pellet?
Or what reg pressure it need about 800fps for 15.89 grain pellet?

How low Krait l .22 reg pressure can be adjust that will still work well?

Is Krait compact 400mm barrel much more noisy what is Krait l with 520mm barrel?

Hoping to have short, light and silent Krait.

Wondering did still order wrong model.

Gun is coming for pellet use.
Compact barrel .22 is choked.
L HP model barrel .22 is non choked.

I don't believe there would be any difference between 400 and 520, sound wise.
To me barrel length rather defines your working distance, for instance I figured I would not shoot my compact Krait 25 at 100 yards, the accuracy is not there especially with a side wind. Mine is shootable up to 50, maybe 75. I'm talking about pellets here, not slugs. Maybe will try slugs some day.
Chocked vs non chocked - you can still shoot slugs from chocked barrel.
Have to define what "silent" means for you. My wife can hear hammer and pellet snap sounds from any place in my house and she says it is quite distinct. Neighbors almost certainly will notice it, may or may not relate to shooting, who knows...
For this reason I'm looking now for .177 backyard rifle. But keeping Krait 25 for sure.

I also bought a laminate stock while it was available at Utah Airguns for a reasonable price.
And I like it a lot, even though it added extra 200 grams

I did. I hate plastic triggers on guns over 1K. Airmaks, it remains on your karma...
Btw it was quite a challenge to set it it up to work with the safety on laminated stock, travel is very limited. But I managed to tune it to my like.
Yea i might order myself a trigger. Ive bought so many things already. My long arca rail and magazine holder were out of stock, but should be in a few weeks. How's it feel compared to stock? The install looks fairly easily. A few bolts and one pin

The L because I have the special 177/22 Falx on the standard which is not high flow and I have the standard shooting over 1k fps! If I swap the moderators on the standard or tune it down to 920fps, then it gets the quietes node. The Yokozuna does a great job on the L. In either case, the critters don't know what is going on past 20 yards anyway!

Yes, it gets a lot quieter below 850. Under 800 you almost don't need a moderator. And if you were good with a 3D printer, you could replace the stock shroud baffles with something better and really get it quiet. I shoot the 177 at night with not much more than the cars going buy so it's very quiet and I really don't want anyone to hear me and so far nothing but the mice and rats have complained!
