AirMaks Arms Krait L HP .22 first shoot- PLEASE ADVICE

Here she is…

Reg at 150bar sends H&N 25grain slugs 930fps @100m range.
I can shoot 2 magazines from 280bar, before 3rd I need to refill the air (there was still some pressure above 150b mark, but not for full mag)
Precision… she’s better than me (old story).
Bark is… solid. With OEM silencer (40L) it‘s ok.

I wish to lower the reg pressure, but not at the expense of speed.
Now one “naive” question… Is it possible to tune her for the same speeds but with lower reg pressure?
TIA
S.

Basic airgun principles:

1 longer barrel gives same velocity with little less power.
2 Power is combination of hammer spring, reg - if applicable, and plenum size.
3 Lowering reg pressure usually requires increased size on plenum and/or increase HS tension.

Unless you are willing to do much experimentation, if you are having satisfactory accuracy. perhaps leave it be. This looks to be a pretty compact gun. Small guns can perform at high levels, they are just limited on shot count. More air capacity, lower power setting = greater shot count.

Following cause I will be buying a Krait L .22 hp, although I don't intend on shooting slugs that fast.

I did remember owning a Katran .22 LB, same barrel length, without the 60cc plenum. Mine was shooting 25.39gr pellets at 905fps, I don't believe the reg was higher than 130b though.

What I am getting at is that you should be able to achieve the same velocity at a lower reg. My buddy has a Katran L .177 and before putting a Huma reg with plenum he has his reg set to 112b to shoot 10gr KO slugs at 980 all while I am shooting the same slugs at 960fps with 86b
He has since change the reg and if I remember correctly he got the same velocity as I with about 103b instead of 112.

So you may be able to achieve a better shot tune at a lower reg and hammer setting. Or you may achieve better velocity by messing with the hammer. Either way, make sure to record or make notes on the current adjustments of your gun.

Yes, I’m thinking the same, that’s why I’m asking this.
Guys from FB Krait group told me that this is just random setup without fine tuning but it’s hard to start playing with a new airgun without even asking more experienced owners some advice or numbers.
I was surprised when I saw 150b on reg but ok, it’s a start.
We’ll see what can I get from her when I start tuning, I really like her and wish her to stay with me, for good 👍😎

The most significant parameter for achieving power in a regulated PCP is almost always the size of the air passages (aka porting). And for slugs in particular, the closer you can get to full caliber porting, the better. Valve throat, valve exhaust, transfer port, and barrel port.

From what i've heard the hp version of these have the larger porting on the barrel.

I watched the video of michigan air gunner shooting hid krait x 22. Went through the comments, and he stated that his gun was set at 130b, in a video he stated he was shooting the jsb 25.39gr slugs at 1044, his chrony read from 1032 to 1044 with the first shot being 1044 and the rest between 1032 and 1037. That barrel is 7.1" longer than yours, and is putting out 100fps more than yours. An extra inch of barrel can give you anywhere between 12-18fps make given my encounters and what I have read.

Imho, I think you can reach the same speed you currently are at 130b.

By the looks of it you're is wasting a lot.of air, these guns are normally very quiet when tuned correctly and extremely quiet.

I was thinking the same; too much air goes out.
I will start with lower pressures, let’s say from 100b and see how it goes.
Thank you for your help, I’ll post my results once when I have something to post 👍

My Krait L isn't an HP but it takes 136 Bar to get those velocities with 25.4 grain .22's.
Mine is set to about 2% below the knee and I get about 70 shots with the 480cc bottle and around 90 with the 580cc bottle. Try finding your max velocity at your reg pressure and pull the hammer back 2-5% to waste less air.

@JaceSpace1369 & @MACTEN

I was on the field and tuned her to my best knowledge and I’m very pleased with results, to say at least.
Again with H&N HPII 25grain slugs;
Reg pressure at 135bar
Velocity 280mps/919fps
ES <6
I don’t know what efficiency I’ll get but obviously it would be better than yesterday.

Thank you guys, thanks to everyone who tried to help me, this community is amazing.

HAPPY DAYS!!!

Good stuff bud! Let us know how it shoots and how many shots you get with this tune

I will. I didn’t have any time (nor free RAM space :) ) to think about precision, but on 50m, while testing- it seemed promising.
This was after finished tuning, just seconds before the dark.
But I do always feel she’s better than me :)

I also think so, thank you 👍😎

For now I only have H&N HPII 25gr .217 and H&N Heavies 34gr .218 slugs.
IDK what will happen when I get 21-23gr slugs, precision/velocity wise, but as long as I use 25grainers I can forget tuning and concentrate on precision. Right now I’m removing the barrel to see how it looks but I can already tell you one thing: the crown is much nicer than on my U2 .25 700mm CZUB.
One more interesting detail; for the first time I’ve seen shroud of one piece on any Krait, without removable baffles at the end, and the crown/screw protector on top also has new design.
IDK is that exclusivity of HP versions, we’ll see. It’s nice to see constant improvement on Krait models, but at the same time it can be bit confusing, because you can’t tell what TF you’ll get once when ordered :-o
Stay sharp my friend ✊

Sweet! Not sure if mine is an HP but it is .177 and the shroud and baffle is like yours

Also my plan for the krait l .22 hp I'm gonna get is to shoot the jsb 20.83gr KO or the 28.55gr ko slugs, I've seen what they can do at low velocity 😬🤯

Oh, great info 👍😎
Don’t mind me for stealing that one, my next plan was ZAN .217 23-25.5gr, but I won’t mind to prioritize KO’s 🤭
As for Krait L HP .22 (or Krait in general) if they didn’t made few small parts of a cheap looking plastic- I would easily say 9/10.
This way, I have to buy some cerakote and make her look like a 1M$ Girl 🥰🥰🥰
Everything else is beyond my expectations or even my skill.
Stay sharp,
S.
