KRAFORD & LYPT BUTT HOOK

About a year ago I made a butt hook for my Impact Mk2. I only wanted a plain light weight butt hook without all the rods and stuff on it, to be used for offhand shooting as opposed to the ones being sold for bench rest shooting. Also I am a minimalist and just wanted something as unobtrusive as possible. Failing to find one available for sale I contacted Stephen at Kraford & Lypt and asked him to make one for me using his KLS-2 butt hook. I tried to convince that there would be a demand for such a product because surely there are other guys that like to hold up their rifle and shoot it rather than shooting it from a bench, and that his massive bench rest buttpad set up was just not practical for offhand shooters like me.

Well since I was unable to convince him to make one for me and to offer them for sale on his website I decided to make my own. So I purchased one of the K&L KLS-2 Upgrade Kits and simply cut off the piece on the back of the butt hook with a hacksaw, and also cut off the piece from the inside of my Impact buttpad and screwed the two pieces together. Here are some photos of the one I made for Helga...

And here are some photos of the plain butt hook like mine K&L is now offering for the LCS and Daystate Red Wolf rifles. They are available at KrafordandLypt... - https://krafordandlypt.com/collections/adjustable-stock - I am hoping that all you guys out there that may be interested will send an email to Stephen at K&L and ask him to make these buttpad/butt hooks for our Impacts, Wildcats, & Streamlines to let him know that there is an interest in them! :)

All the best, Chuck

Here is a photo of the K&L KLS-2 Adjustable Stock for the FX Impact's...you can see how easy it would be to simply attach the delrin piece shown on the two rods on the front of this one, to the butt hook on the rear of it. By simply putting those two pieces together it would work for the FX Impact's. It would be adjustable up & down like mine is, but it would require a little extra design to make it adjustable for cant to the side. Maybe you could just buy those two pieces and make one for yourself like I did?

All the best, Chuck

Good job on your simplified butt hook. It's unfortunate you had to buy all those bits you didn't need. (i.e. "It's unfortunate Kraford & Lypt don't make a simple one for the Impact.) I have their simple one on my SK-19 and I really like it. I'd love to have a one for my Impact too. I don't need that gangly contraption for most of my needs (pesting). So I bought a simple one I found on Ebay.
