I used it for the first time this morning. Picked up 6 different birds. Pretty cool app. Might turn me into a birder, now...

Get this app to go with it @BassManI love the app because it can identify a bird by the sound that they make. Often times I will hear a bird but not see it and the app will identify the bird.
Yep, that's an Indigo Bunting.......I used to be into bird photography a while back and I've got several pics of them, they used to show up around here in Virginia around May......Here's a pic of one I got........I am a English house sparrow hunter, I wonder what kind of sparrow is these? photoed at 10yds from my window

Beautiful pictures. My son got this video. When I was into the bird photography, I had always wanted to find a Pileated Woodpeckers nest and try to get some pics of them feeding the young ones in the nest. I used to walk for miles in the woods trying to follow them to find an active nest. Around here it's very hard to find an active nest in a rural area....it took me 5 years and I finally found one and got the pics I wanted....Here's a couple of the pics I got.......

Funny thing with those peckers and a dab of red.Pileated Woodpeckers
I’m pretty sure my #1 pest bird is protected by the migratory bird treaty act… (ravens) just this afternoon I observed one flying westbound with a large egg in its beak… could have been one of the many nesting Bald eagles in my area… could have been a turkey egg too…the last couple years they are responsible for considerable damage on my property…not to mention all the carnage they’ve done to other wildlife in the area.I'm not a tree hugger per se but I've yet to understand the need to make "birds" or things we don't eat, into a quarry?
Pigeons, sure, starlings, sure, things that mess with a farmers crops and feed lots, sure. Furry things that endanger a farmers stock, sure.
But just to kill something for the sake of shooting something? I'm left to wonder = why?
Now if the app keeps you from killing an endangered species, well that's for sure helpful.

you can always plant an NAA .22 revolver and some bird size crack rocks or smoking accoutrement under a wing and claim he attempted to harm you.I’m pretty sure my #1 pest bird is protected by the migratory bird treaty act… (ravens) just this afternoon I observed one flying westbound with a large egg in its beak… could have been one of the many nesting Bald eagles in my area… could have been a turkey egg too…the last couple years they are responsible for considerable damage on my property…not to mention all the carnage they’ve done to other wildlife in the area.![]()
Oh yeah, Crows will kill other birds, raid their nests and eat their eggs. To me a Crow is a target of opportunity.Crows a really bad hear in ocean shores wa watched one the other day fly down a kill a song berd and the morning song birds I don’t hear anymore!!! I like crows but didn’t know they killed other birds regards jerry
I need to find a feed lot that will let me shoot birds for them. I’d gladly bust out the tripod and slug slugs at winged rats all day. My personal favorite are the Collared Doves. The thwack they make and seeing the crop explode then I put a slug in them is very satisfying. The fact that I’m making farmers and native doves happy is the cherry on top….I just picked up the app this morning. It surprised me as to how many birds I didn’t know were there. I’m a bird hunter, have been since is was a kid. Back then, sparrows were my main quarry because they ate so much grain from my dad’s birds. (Pheasants, peacocks, chickens, Canada geese, etc, We had a big exotic farm). Since I got back into culling birds, I decided I wanted weed out the riff raff as you will, to bring in some of those birds I knew were here, but were crowded out by the house sparrows and the like. Then came the war on starlings. And that war has been raging for 4 yrs now and I have a pretty good handle on that population with the help of two feed lots I shoot off of. Now it seems the red wing black birds are taking up that space. Any way, long story short, since I’ve started that culling, the amount of sparrow breeds other than house sparrows are outstanding. I’ve never seen a silver crown until last year, I didn’t even know there were three types of song sparrows and tree sparrows. And with this app, I found another species I never knew we had. Grass hopper sparrow, never knew it existed. So I can say I really like the app. It’s going to be a valuable tool going forward.
