Karma/Paying it Forward

It's occurred to me that over the past 7 or 8 years I've been into airguns & the time on this forum that I must have spent a couple hundred dollars sending parts to people in need, either those near the beginning of the learning curve or someone having an "airgun emergency" or something like that. One of the BEST things AGN has given to me is being able to be of service! I love this Sport, Hobbie, Activity, Obsession, Addiction (either or ALL of those for me) & the sharing of needed parts or knowledge I've accrued. I've made some great friends & hunting pals over the years. Invaluable stuff! Though my intended purpose was to help out, not seeking anything in return (other than it makes me feel good to do so) some great, unintended things have come my way. I've been "gifted" scopes, compressors, a GREAT airgun, gun cases, couple bipods, etc. More things than I can remember. But still, for me, the BEST has been the camaraderie & friendships. Those came through helping out & being helped out by others.

So people, especially the ones just starting to learn, keep remembering to pay it forward if someone's been kind & helpful. Build those Karma credits. You'll be glad & grateful you did & that you got to help someone else on this journey. It can be a truly rewarding experience!

Hey, finally a thread that I’m uniquely qualified to comment on!

As a newbie who has been on the receiving end of Gerry52’s generosity, I just wanted to confirm how helpful it is to someone just starting out in this hobby. As much as I’ve learned from reading this forum, nothing compares to spending a few hours shooting with an expert. I was able to try high-end guns that I’ve only ever read about, and ask approximately a million questions.

The biggest benefit came when he let me borrow his extra 30min SCBA tank. I never knew I needed a tank until I was able to try one for myself! The feeling it brings is pretty much the same as when I went from a hand pump to my first compressor… it really opened my eyes to the benefits of carrying instant air wherever you shoot.

So big thanks from this newbie, Gerry! I hope to be able to do the same someday.

Wow, THANKS Derek! As always, I was/am glad to help out. Hoping the warmth & sunshine here becomes more consistent SOON. Anytime you're free I'd love to get together again, just give me a shout. Truth be told, I want to shoot your Sidewinder again & even your Marauder. The one I had for a year + never did shoot quite right but it was probably more my lack of knowledge than the gun. Calling me an "expert" is above my pay grade! I'm just farther along the learning curve than you are now. There are people on AGN who definitely deserve the title but I don't consider myself one of them. Lmk when you have some time to throw pellets.
