Degassed, pulled the reg, cleaned, polished the little crossbar but didn't have a spanner screwdriver to access the washer stack. Put it all back together and ran about 150 pellets thru her. Regulator creep is now gone, it didn't move a hair from 1000psi to 2000psi (in 200psi increments). As soon as my spanner screwdriver set arrives, I'll take it all down again, regrease, etc.

I'm still having velocity issues. I can't get even the light pellets (.25 X 25.39 pellets) above 850fps...no matter what I try. I've verified the Xfer port is wide open, Hammer Spring has been adjusted thru its entire range at a variety of reg. pressures. Tonight I went thru the reg. from 2000psi to 3000psi (33.9 pellets). Highest velocity was 824fps. I'm becoming more and more convinced that I have a restriction somewhere...valve body maybe? @3000psi reg. pressure, I should be having to boost the hammer spring just to get the valve to open. Hammer spring adjustments don't do squat...other than cause the velocity to drop.

My final string of 21 shots this evening @ 3000psi reg press (33.9g pellet) actually climbed 23fps (817 to 841). That's a first. If I was at 2000psi reg pressure, I would start some fine tuning to get a flat spot in the graph...but it should be shooting those 33.9 pellets @900fps at 2000psi. No reg creep @ 3000psi...I guess that's a plus.
Hmmm that’s interesting. I’m no expert that does sound valve related…. Also pray for me I ordered my EQ today in .30 cal.

I’m getting 904 2000 psi 0 in the Hammer spring with 30 grain pallets and 840 with 40 slogs. You must take apart the pupet valve and check it out.
I did about two hours ago. It looks fine. Took apart the Hammer and spring, nothing there either.

I did notice some inconsistent build quirks...a few things not fully seated, etc. Am about to do another round of testing...

Well! I think I have solved the problem.

When I disassembled the poppet valve and body, the valve body was ~ 0.080" from fully seated. I'd noticed that when I got it, but didn't know enough to recognize it as a problem. Not being fully seated means that the valve stem wasn't sticking out far enough for the hammer to drive it fully open. Worse, it was loose, so it may have been moving a bit while the rifle was being shot.

I dug out a picture of the day it arrived back June 4. The circled area shows the gap.

Here's what it looks like properly screwed in:

With it screwed in properly, I did some chrono testing...about an hour ago. At 1100psi reg, I got over 730fps...I knew I'd done something right. I hit 900fps at around 1900psi (.25 cal, 33.9g AEA pellets). First time this rifle has shown what it can do!

So, I aired it back up to 4300psi, set the reg to 2000psi and shot a magazine. Max 930fps, Min 903, 28fps drop, SD 7.94...26 shots.

I'm a happy guy! Now I can go out and see what all those slugs I bought can do. :D

Good job brother I really like my rifle. I think you get a lot of rifle for the money. It’s just like anything it’s made by man and we’re not perfect but your tenacity and patience. It’s paying off the numbers you’re getting now are very close to what I get a 2000 psi The good thing. Is you eat a lot of the hard work already so I think you’re well in your way to be a happy customer please let us know how it goes. Thank you and good night.

F*** yes bro! Love to hear that. Way to push through and figure it out.

Completely agree. My other gun is a 250z that I swear can out shoot a lot of guns that cost twice as much… why? Because it’s good design but isn’t always perfectly made. Also I’ve gone over every inch of it, polishing, lubing and sometimes modifying.

Finally, got some range time this morning. Of course, not everything went as planned...

The EQ now shoots to spec (breathes sigh of relief). I got to fiddle around at 50yds with the 33.9g Dead Center pellets, which appear to like 820fps. Also tested some AEA 30g and 49g slugs, and JSB Knockout 33.24g slugs.

The 30g AEA slugs were all over the place. I suspect I was pushing them too hard at 900fps. I have shotguns that pattern tighter. The AEA 49g Long Range Master slugs did ok...but will need a tuning session of their own. They seemed to like running around 870fps.

Bright spot was the 33.24 JSB Knockouts. Without really trying for precision shooting on my part, they easily shot to 1MOA at ~850fps. Nice to quickly find something the rifle likes!

OTOH, my Natechrony had some issues. I kept getting "alignment errors" and would get spurious data like 300-2000 fps shots (no change on target). There were ants crawling on the bench...on my scope, etc. Might have had a chrony intruder!

Athlon radar chrono should be here Friday. That will allow me to test with the moderator in place.
