Karma EQ .30 cal

I received my Karma EQ in .30 cal this week. I took it to the range and I was so impressed with shooting a .30 cal. This is the first time. I have only shot .25 cal and smaller. It was very windy but was able to sight it in at 45 yards. It was knocking down the targets used in Rimfire lane. I was able to hit the 100 yard 3 inch target. I shot two full mags from 4300 psi down to the reg 2150 psi. I didn’t adjust anything so far.

Looking at the specs given at Pyramyd Air, the base tune should give exactly what you're getting with that weight of pellet. 83 ft. pounds sounds impressive to me but I'm not that familiar with .30 calibers. You could up the power if you wanted but you'd get less than two magazines full of shots per fill, if that matters to you. It might for a hunting trip? That would certainly be a squirrel killer! Those Karmas are good looking rifles. I normally don't care that much for bullpups but the EQ is attractive. (y)

Do you guys think those numbers can be better?
The reg will probably break in and become a bit better. It’s acting a little funky right now. The first “hot” shot isn’t uncommon in the pcp world so that is no big deal really. The only slightly weird thing I would point out is the steady (although it isn’t a huge amount but still there) decline in velocity through the shot string. Hopefully that will get better as it is a slight anomaly. I think other owners have had similar experiences.

I looked at the shot string and I don't see a declining curve. Shot 14 is 920 just like shot 2. I was interested because my Caiman X had a declining shot string because the regulator was not venting. But I see no signs of that here. A 22 spread on 15 shots is not great but it may get better, as has been mentioned, and in my experience it varies by projectile and exact hammer spring setting. I was retuning the Caiman for pellets last week and a hammer spring setting that gives me about 875 fps gives an extreme spread over 30 fps but a setting of about 900 gives an extreme spread of less than 20 fps. The 875 setting is noticably more accurate (and gave me a 197 30 yard challenge score) so that is where the gun is at. I'd still like to see a lower ES but I'll take accuracy over low ES anytime.

What do you think of the trigger pull? I have seen a comment that at least early guns had an issue but also comments that there is a "fix" for later guns. I like to be able to set the pull to half a pound or less for target work. Will an EQ do that?
