Steve and I are doing a little Share n' Compare of the Kalibrgun Cricket II Tactical 45 vs 60… and then we'll be hosting an RDW event where 1 lucky person will win a killer package from Airguns of Arizona, MTC Optics, Sportsmatch mounts, JSB, H&N, Patchworm, and 0Db!!

The Kalibrgun Cricket II Tactical is offered in a wide range of calibers and lengths. Tac 2 models come with different barrels and chokes depending on the length and caliber. The 45's have 17.7'' barrels, while the 60's have 23.6'' barrels. Here's quick breakdown for ya:

  • .177 45 = CZ choked
  • .22 45 = CZ choked
  • .22 60 = CZ unchoked
  • .25 60 = LW unchoked
  • .30 60 = LW Polygonal unchoked

For this Share n' Compare I have the Tac 45 in .22 caliber, and Steve has the Tac 60 in .30 caliber.

We agreed (at least for the 1st part of this compare) to test these airguns as they came tuned from Airguns of Arizona. We both used a Patchworm bore cleaner and then set off on our exploration.

All Tac models come with hybrid air reservoirs (CF bottle + aluminum air cylinder). The 45's have a total of 477cc, the 60's have 613cc's.

My .22 45 came shooting 18g pellets at 930 fps and 25g MRD pellets at 820 fps. I recorded 109 shots from a 300b fill. Which is using about 4.3cc per shot.

Steve's .30 60 came shooting 44g pellets at 920 fps. He recorded 58 shots from a 300b fill. Which is using about 10.2cc per shot.

The shroud works exceptionally well at reducing muzzle report and stripping/redirecting air back into itself. But for added suppression I chose to use the DonnyFL Tatsu and Steve got the new 0Db moderator.

The Tac models are built tough! But the triggers are very light and crisp.

Magazines are simple, inexpensive, and can be stored in the stock.

Steve and I both did some pellet culling and 50 yard groupings.

I’ll be following both of your reviews with great anticipation. I’m a new owner of a C2T 60 in .30 cal. I’ve only shot a few through it but had to send it back because it wouldn’t hold air. Luckily it was an easy fix as the leak was found that the de-gassing screw was a tad loose. Just got it back yesterday so I’m looking forward to your input on improving the factory tuning after you have broken it in at the factory specs.

I had a Cricket 2 earlier and the magazine cycling was horrible and extremely clunky feeling but the rifle shot well. However, I couldn’t get past that feeling and had to let it go. This C2T has MUCH improved magazine cycling, one which I can certainly get along with. I would imagine that the polishing, shown above, only improves it even more?

Have the privilege and fun to own a C2T in .30. I have shot over a thousand pellets and slugs so far, with no problems or malfunctions of any kind. Derrick Wall did the tune and had it set at 130 reg and the adjustment knob glued in so that there was no inadvertent movement. Shoots JSB Diablo 44.75, 50.15 and JSB Hades 44.75 with incredible accuracy at 865 FPS. Slugs have a problem with the magazine. Tried AVS at .3003, 50 grain and .3013 50 grain. The .3003 will fall out of the magazine, but fired single shot worked very well. The .3013 stayed in the magazine a little better but can still be jarred loose. Will be working with AVS to hopefully come up with a slug that likes the magazine. I don't wish to disparage any other air rifle brands, but I have owned and sold two FX rifles in .30 caliber. The Crown and Wildcat. Both were excellent rifles however they were too fussy with all the adjustments. The Cricket just performs right out of the box. Fill with air, load magazine and have fun. I have taken the 50.15 grain out to 150 yards with shots hitting a 3" diameter steel plate every time. This was with 20 mph side wind. Once I established wind correction, amazing. Only drawback is the plastic fill probe protector. Lost one already and will find some way to run a thread attachment to protector and rifle to keep from disappearing. Great job on the VLOG, looking forward to AEAC full review.

I did tons of research on the Kalibr Cricket II Tactical and the Argus 60 in .30 cal, and I ended up purchasing the Argus, which should arrive on Friday. I fell completely in love with the look of it in Steve's AEAC Vlog, https://youtu.be/pLNCD6L3smk , and decided this would be my first high end airgun. A few of the reasons I went with the Argus over the Cricket II Tactical are as follows:

  • Most every gun coming out now has this forward bottle design. Although the increased shot count can't be discounted, it's a meh in my book from the esthetics. 20 full power shots from the Argus .30 cal beats the 7-8 I get with my Bulldogs now, so that's an improvement for me.
  • Although I had a similar magazine system in my first PCP, the Hatsan Bullboss, I looked at the Cricket II Tactical magazine mode switch as a possible wear/failure point. I much prefer those mechanisms residing in the Argus magazine instead of the gun, even though that makes magazines more expensive.
  • The complete lack of a sling mounting point was the deal breaker for me on the Cricket II Tactical. Many users will choose to shoot these guns from the bench, but I'm a hunter and do pest control on my property, and a sling for these heavy beast are a must. The Argus also comes up short with only one sling point, but I'll add an offset loop to the top pic rail and forward sling carry the gun in a low ready.
  • Hopefully the Argus magazine can accept Polymags, but if not, I've got a few hundred JSB Hades and JSB Exact pellets coming in tomorrow, with a few hundred NSA slugs to follow.

In any case bc I'm super excited about these Kalibr guns. It's a crying shame they don't offer the Argus 45 in .30 cal, as that would be a killer truck gun!
