Just purchased a New FX Wildcat .25 cal

Wow this love affair didn't last long, I put about 150 JSB 25.39gr through the gun in fact in the same hole at 50 yard. So I went to clean it and was going to take off the shroud and clean the lead stuff out of it. To my surprise the muzzle defuser would not unscrew or come off. So decided that I would remove the shroud and it was stuck solid so added a little more heat to soften the Loctite and sill nothing so pulled the barrel out and clamped it in a leather soft jaw on my vise heated again and still could not unscrew the from the barrel collar, Oh crap now what? so I used a strap wrench on the shroud and the collar spun on the barrel. Crap the Grub screw is not tight enough, Nothing to hold the collar from spinning. can't get the muzzle end off can't un screw the shroud. So I clamp the knurled rim of the collar and try that noop spins with tape raped around it so watch the video of how to get the shroud off and nothing they did worked for me, so clamped down a little harder on the rim and now it stars to un thread with the strap wrench.. I then notice the aluminum chips are coming out from around the collar and the shroud is not coming off but turning easer and easer until it just spins. I try pulling and turn then it get hard again then easy and the shroud is backing off then it just slides off. Guess what all the threads in the shroud just com out also so, the grub screw is caked with aluminum. I still have to get the muzzle stacker off and the defuser out. Guess what I find there gobbs of Loctite on the threads and it has leaked down into the O-rings and threads of the defuser the only way to get that out is you got it vise grips so the shroud and collar are hosed and the muzzle is crap now too. I now have the Air Wolf LCD on it and it quieter and still one hole at 50 yrds. every body must have EBR hangovers because I cant get anyone on the phone at AOA for parts. If I can get a shroud and collar then every thing will be cool if not FX will never here the end of me..I have pixs of it, don't know how to post them. Man this got ugly fast.

Wow nice group at 80yrds! I only have targets at 25 and 50 yrd. right now. I tell you these smooth twist guns, shoot!
Here is my 50 yrd. target 5 shot groups. I have already taken 3 rabbits at over 50 and all 3 were head shots, lights out. I wont post the rabbits as it may upset some. I don't have the shroud on my any more as you can see in the photos above. I put my Air Wolf LCD on and it is 7 db quieter than the stock shroud. :)

I suspect this is the same thing that was going on with my new WC. It is at AoA right now being worked on. Looks like someone was a little over zealous with the Loctite. I would have had to tear it up to move it. I wanted to check the barrel because I was getting aluminum shavings when I cleaned the barrel and though maybe there was a clipping issue going on.
PLEASE AOA,. Send me back my WC!!!

I am also getting a few aluminum shavings on my WC when I clean it ... but I don't think it is from clipping the pellets because if it were the POI would be all over the place. I am just assuming that it might be some extra machining debris from the manufacturing process that somehow is working it's was out every time it is cleaned . I mean I am getting groups of a half inch or less at 65 yards with 25.4 gr JSBs. The only thing I can think of is that the cocking arm is nowhere near as smooth as it should be and maybe little flicks of unpolished metal are working their way into the action. I've shot about 3 tins of pellets through the gun and there are less and less of these metal flicks coming out with each cleaning. This isn't the first I have heard about people having trouble getting the shroud off, don't know if they have made some modifications to the gun which aren't readily apparent or covered in the videos, but I will hold off as long as possible before taking the gun apart ... Ohhhh and Dartagnan, you were so correct about a little bit of wet lube helping with the groups. I was amazed at the difference. I had used FP-10 on a MMHF barrel for my Marauder, but that was basically to try and keep down lead fouling with the tight barrel, it did not significantly improve accuracy ... it just let you go a little longer between cleaning sessions. In the WC it improved accuracy a great deal and I am getting about 300-350 rounds through the barrel before groups start opening up. Great tip Dartagan, I owe you one for that! I have even thought about trying it on my Impact just to see what it does.

HighAltAir,
This MTC is the first of its kind I've owned, I've had two of them now. You put the eye piece right up against your eye socket. You get a very wide field of view because of this placement and it being anchored on the face helps to steady the gun a bit. Of course you can't put this baby on anything that has recoil because....well you know, it will sting pretty good.

The scope has only one reticle. That second bump on top (closest to the eye) is the rheostat for the illuminated reticle. The rubber button on the left side is how you turn the poser on and off the illumination. The scope has the normal up/down and right/left adjustment turrents. The reason I like this scope is the extra wide field of view and overall short length of the tube. I don't like long, scopes on any of my rifles.

Just a quick up date on the Wildcat I have, they won't warranty the shroud.

MOD EDIT: content removed. We've been following your "situation". Normally if a problem with a vendor and/or private sale occurs we try to help resolve the issue behind the scenes. I spoke to the repair manager and he explained that the parts you damaged are available for purchase. The warranty does not cover clamping the parts down in a vise & stripping the threads. We will not allow you to slander the retailer when you are refusing to purchase the damaged part & give their Service dept a chance to fix it.

Give Utah Airguns a call. When I had my wildcat I got in touch with them and they were going to get me a new shroud. The customer service there is first rate and they will sort you out. Sucks you have to pay for a new shroud but they aren't that much (less than $100 for rear cap, tube and front end cap). They should not use lock tite on the shroud like that, you should be able to remove it easily for cleaning,

Now back on topic! I have my scopes mounted and have tried the Aztec scope, it is a nice scope , but the eye relief is kind of difficult to get a good sight picture at high mag settings., so the jury is still out on that one. Tried the Milett TRS-1 4-16x50 ( which is made by Bushnell) it has good eye relief and is very clear at all mags from 4-16x. How ever that thing weighs a ton, and it is a SFP, scope and I'm not a big fan of them. I want to try the Hawke sidewinder6.5-20x42 30mm tube IR I like it so far but have not shot it yet as we have had extremely high wind here for the last few days, talking about 25-35 mph with gusts to 50+. When this storm front passes this week end, I can get some good testing done I hope. Took a Magpie that was steeling food fron my hens at about 55 yards head shot.VBG, that was with the TRS-1. I only tried the Bushnell 4-16x40 1" tube elite. Very nice scope and sited in quick, but I've got it at number 3 because of the 1" tube only. All the rest of the scopes are 30mm tubes.
As soon as I get my scope choice finalized, I will settle down and do some real shooting and ammo work ups. I can't wait to see how the FX compares with the tuned Kral I have. It shoots pretty good for a $650.00 tuned gun. Any opinions or input iare welcome. I have got to get a compressor, with these PCPs the tank will not feed the two, very long.:) and that pump eats my 67 yr old tail pretty quick. Im looking at another PCP, the Benjamin Armada:)
Keep your air dry and oil free.

Oh it is up and shooting, I just pulled that crap shroud off and and screwed my Air Wolf 25 cal moderator which by the way is 7.5 db quieter than the factory gizmo FX puts on this gun. On the C Scale that is more than -4 Power factor reduction, which is really quiet, like 1 db above normal conversation which is 60-63 db depending on whether I'm talking to my or she is talking to me;)
Any way it looks cool with the Air Wolf on it.

Hey Matt
Thanks for mag holders, they are very nice. The mail just came, yahoo. Man these are really nice.

Well here is the Wildcat ready to go do some damage to ground squirrel population and a couple big Jack Rabbits . Those things are a hand full for a 22 lr. we will see what the 25 Wildcat will do.

This the Wild cat with the Hawke scope and the mag holder installed. Oh that is Chinese copy of the Atlas bipod on the gun, that is a real B10 below it.

This is where the grubscrew scratched the barrel as it turned which is my fault and fail. It is what it is.
Stay tuned.
