Just ordered some .25 NSA Slugs

Just order the 31.7 Hp, 33.5 Hp, and 34 gr dimple nose in .25 to try in my Talon pistol. From a post I saw by manufacturer they should preform ok in the LW choked barrel, but will investigate whether its worth it to purchase unchoked barrel. This is a purely pest control gun and want the expansion capability. I will look at the hades once they are available but this will give me a chance to tinker in the meantime. I am also considering going to a 18 or 24" LW barrel, turning it into an escape.

This is my first venture into airgun slugs and appreciate any advice. I hope it will provide some good accuracy at longer ranges for this setup, but will probably be using it out to 30-40 yards on groundhogs mostly.

once I get them in I will try and do some testing and take notes and get data to share.

The slugs are very good quality. From everything I've read they like higher velocities. I have some of the HP and DN in .25 and they work ok, not great in my Hatsan PCP that is choked but I can't get them moving passed about 760fps even though they are the same weight as the JSB Heavies. They are much tighter in the barrel because of more surface area contact.

Let us know how they do!

Hey Dave sounds like fun!!! The Talon P is a real powerhouse!!! I put a.25 barrel from a Benjamin trail xl cut to 18” in it. Whoa!!!! I was launching 70 grains with authority! At 100yards the first three shots from a3000 psi fill were same ragged hole. Of course because it’s a non-regulated gun the POI would begin to drop but nevertheless, wow! It’s now sporting an 8” .22 threaded barrel and in the process of being converted to a bull pup! Again enjoy your talon and hope it doesn’t turn blue!!! Lol just a joke. Hi 👋 Rachael

having the ability to get the heavier slugs up to proper speed is why I am looking at the longer barrels. Right now she pushes a 25.39 gr JSB at 922fps avg over 8 shots in my best part of the curve(power set at 9) with sd 6fps but drastically changes after that.

That sounds promising. I don't intend to shoot that heavy of projectile, so hopefully can push a mid 30's to mid 40's gr to an appropriate level for good accuracy. I will probably talk to rep at the cup this weekend about choked vs unchoked and may pick up a barrel or two to work with. I looked into having a blank done, but probably cheaper to cut down the 24" to remove choke and re-crown.

I did get the rest of the items I have been waiting for to complete my setup, minus whatever I decide about a the best barrel to go with. I decided on the Swfa fixed 12 as giving me the best flexibility for my purposes.

Dave, that’s an awesome looking Talon!🔥🔥🔥 is that a factory trigger guard ?

I wanted to tell you that I had tremendous success with what I have heard called the “poor man’s regulator “. As you may already know , just a simple o ring under the carefully spaced top hat 🎩! With the appropriate fill I was able to get a super flat 30 shot string. All hovering rt around 900 FPS. I did use a .36 L bottle and the power wheel was at 8/16. I really understand why they call it a poor man’s regulator it works ! I ended up using the same tune for the70 grains (same settings , but slower due to bullet weight). The LW barrel handled them well sized to .250. A short silent close range culler! Have fun !

Dave,

That's nice glass there bro, one that's definitely on my want to buy list.

I'm going to have to break down and pick up an assortment of NSA slugs, but am holding out until he adds 40-44gr slugs with the new price point 240-275 count.

Barrel I keep bouncing back in forth on 18" cut down to 16" to stay in the shroud or 24" cut down to 20"...probably going to end up with both. I want to keep the OAL as compact as I can and maximize fpe.
