If this is an scba tank and you haven't removed the dip tube on the valve base, you won't be able to expel the water if there is any.

I haven't removed mine, but then I'm not having any issues with water. My understanding however is that those who have removed them have sawn them off.
The thread is M10-1 and the fitting sits on a white nylon bushing. You do as you like but have yet to hear of the supplied hose failing. I thought however of replacing the brass female quick connect with one made of stainless, but three years in on the original and still locks up fine. Not even the o-ring looks worn.
And some of us have been burned by the cheaper versions and decided to buy the more expensive ones. If you want to constantly have to rebuild or pray each time you turn it on it will work, then go for it. At this point, some of us would rather have the Rolls Royce and not a Yugo.
