So I love shooting off a tripod. Not as stable as front and rear bags, but it is a REALLY convenient way to get a darn decent shooting position pretty much anywhere. 



The one thing I've never been thrilled about though are the options on the market to convert from a standard Arca Swiss tripod clamp to RIS. Problem solved though with this nifty little adapter I 3D printed. It is plenty strong to hold big guns (I use it on firearms as well as airguns), and will not slide on the rails as it interlocks. Only clamping force needed to hold the whole thing together is the tripod ball head clamp. If anyone wants the design file so they can print it themselves, just send me a PM.  

On my Crowns I run a swivel stud as that is lighter weight and less obtrusive than a rail, so I had to make a custom adapter. Again all the clamping force required is supplied by the tripod's ball head. This is a much less widely applicable design file, but anyone who wants it I'm also happy to send it to them. 

So yeah, I do have and love shooting off a tripod. Everyone should try it! While there are really great tripods for big money, you'd be amazed what you can get for just 100$ or so on Amazon.

I II rigged this mount so it would work with my tripod and a gimbal head. Basically just screwed a picatinny mount to a camera plate, it’s solid and works great. Looks a little funny but oh well! My son loves it, can’t even hardly get him to shoot prone anymore. Gunwerks makes a brace that fits between the butt of the gun and tripod that really stabilized it. I don’t own one but have shot off it and it’s super stable.

Also just bought a new Evolution bipod that’s the best I’ve owned besides maybe the 5-H, it’s awesome too. If you’re looking for a new bipod, definitely check it out!

It's nice to see other people thinking outside the box when it comes to rifle mounting onto pods.. 
I use my monopods, and tripods all the time, and just adapt camera/equipment mounting plates. It works great! 

STO, I love that design!
I had a metal version that I made like that years ago, but it got lost in all of my recent moves.. 
Back to using a pic-clamp with a 1/4-20 mounting screw

stoti, that looks like the exact setup that I use also.. These gimbal heads work fantastic. 
Not only do they provide a rock solid mount, they also help balance the pistol / rifle mounted to them.

I don't know how I've used mine more.. for rifles or for actually taking astrophotography / nature shots.
