Just Installed the Huma Reg in my Utah AirGuns WarCat .25 Any pointers?

Very nice Ty! Bet the shot count is still pretty decent at that pressure.

:)

Ron,

You'll want a chronograph (for best results) in order to set the proper tension on the hammer spring. If you'd like to get it up and running without a Chrono, I'd recommend 8 turns in (from the point when the threads engage) on the hammer spring nut.

That should put you in the ballpark. I agree with Ty that 145bar should be high enough. Shoot a couple of groups at 35 to 50yds and see if it's accurate at that setting. Let us know how it goes!!

Ok, question: I put a Huma in my son's WC MK II .25 cal (NOT compact) with the reg set to 150 bar from Huma. The velocity is set to shoot heavies at about 825-830 fps, but the spreads are still pretty high at 24-29 fps for 10 shot strings. Should I be lowering the reg, and turning the HST higher, increasing the HST, or ? It's still not shooting quite as nicely as I want for him so I appreciate any experience / advice you can lend. I don't know what the number of turns is for the tension, currently.

Wow, that is beautiful!!

SMH,

Going down to 5 bar will drop velocity about 15fps. That was the case with the Wildcat 25 I had. If you go to 145bar and tune the HS, it should get you the same velocity but with a tighter ES.

My WC was shooting the 34gr at 848fps avg at 150bar, ES of 6 and SD of 2, and 1.5" at 100 yds. That ended up being 8.5 turns on the HS. You might end up somewhere around there, maybe 8.25 turns?

If you live in the West, you can pick up a Chronograph at Sportsman's Wharehouse for about $100. Of course you can always go on-line.

With out a Cronie you can try adjusting your regulator down to 135bar and adjusting your hammer spring for the most shots per a fill. Watch for the POI to start dropping. When it goes off the regulator one of two thing happen the poi could shift up for a shot or two or start dropping like a 1/2 each shot. There's a detailed right up on GTA about regulator setting. I try to have the lowest reg setting with hammer spring some where middle of it adjustment range. Regulated gun aren't for super high power, but high numbered shots with best average power for the gun and its tune.
