Just how cruel can Mother Nature be?

I see them all the time here in VA. Some are almost as bad as the first pic.

Very common on eastern Long Island. They're in rabbits, deer and woodchuck. A give away for Woodchuck holes you can see the flies circling over the holes in early spring.

Haven't seen "wolves" since I was a kid, maybe 50 or so years ago. They were in/on kittens at my cousins egg farm. Also saw them around that time in/on rabbits.

Nasty looking and pitiful for the creatures that have them.

I have shot grey squirrels in upstate NY with them. Was told they are called warbles up there also. When they crawled out my skin crawled.

We have them in southwest VA also, its called wolves here also , gone after cold weather.

The "warble" is actually the hole or pocket created by the bot fly larva.
