Just got my side shot mount. Won't focus.

Just got my side shot from Utah airgun for $212 shipped. My phone is the zmax blade. The camera isn't bad, it's pretty good..maybe not as good as Samsung s9/10 but still good enough when recording. I put the camera on the mount. The picture is so tiny. Like an inch circle. So I have to zoom the phone to make it bigger to fit the phone. It's so blurry. The phone will keep trying to focus on the image. The cross hair you can barely see it. Keeps fading in and out. They advertise this as the best phone mount but kinda useless if it won't even focus on the cross hair let alone the image on what your aiming at. Smh did I just wasted $212 on this pos? Or maybe I need a better phone? My phone have 16MP 1080p camera. That is enough right? Anyone use the side shot mount can you give your experience with it? Also the image is mirrored. How to I change it to view normal?

Also this thing came with it. Idk where it goes. Is it just a tool or what?

When I first got it, it took me a while to line up the phone perfectly. If you dont line it up properly the image will appear darker. I use my iphone 8 and i switch it to record in 4k and the image quality is really good. You have to make sure you lock your focus on the crosshair or else it will try to focus on the background. Once the crosshair is in focus you can use your objective to get a crisp picture. That extra piece is extra support for the frame, it isnt necessary though unless you are shooting a high power pcp like one you would hunt big game with.

Ok I lock the auto focus so now it won't keep trying to focus. Which was really annoying. I line up the phone as best I could. But still not getting the best quality. Maybe it's due to we have to zoom to see bigger. My phone does lose quality when you zoom in. This is best picture imagine I could get from it. Picture is ok but cross hair can barely see it. Maybe it's too fine on my mtc viper pro. Idk. Oh wells

I believe the issue is with the phone and not the side shot. I hooked up my iPhone XS Max and had to use the built in 2x optical zoom and 1x of digital zoom until I was happy with the size of the recorded footage.

definitely play with the camera settings and lock the focus. Look for apps that allow you to adjust more settings.

I use FiLMic pro on the iphone. Allows me to flip the image, change the iso settings and fine tune the focus until the cross hairs are crystal clear.

The problem is not with the Side-Shot mount.

It's up to you to mount the phone properly and get it (the phone) working right.
