Just Curious

I got curious on a few things tonight. Is the Umarex really regulated at a true 3000 psi? What does the regulator look like? Is there room for a larger bottle? What does the plenum look like? So, I took it apart! It is a direct type regulator, meaning it doesn’t need a pin to open the valve. It just lets 3000 psi out. If I try to fill the bottle with it disconnected, air just comes out the regulator. I attached it to a Ninja ASA with a very accurate gauge and it was just a tad south of a 3000 psi output. Can a larger bottle be attached? I believe so. I think there is enough room to add a 500cc bottle. I’ll need to measure the clearance to see if one will fit. I think if I wanted to lower the regulator pressure, all I would need to do is remove or rearrange the Belleville washers. That would take some work, but it could be done. Anyway, this could all be worthless information, but now I know more stuff. The plenum is a huge aluminum cylinder with a male threaded end. Looks like it may be proprietary.
