Just curious, Trijicon ?

Mine's a knockoff, but very true to specs and function. Though the reticle isnt as bright, it does work via ambient light. I used to use it on my sortie as well. Very wide field of view, but short eye relief.

I've been thinking about getting one. Mostly for the hell of it, but as you can imagine, the cost (for a new "toy") is holding me back.

While I've got other red and greed dot sights, prism sights that are pretty expensive, the ACOG, even the cheaper ones are up there in cost. I don't hunt...anything...but dots on a piece of paper ! So, like I say, it's just a toy, or out of curiosity. They ARE the top of the line in Prism sights, but...

Yep you used to be able to get old surplus ones for a decet price, but last I checked (couple years back) they were all being bought up, and the price was getting driven way up. For some beat up old optics.... just didn't make sense. I've had good luck with a number of "budget" optics, but I think my luck has run out. Qaulity is way way down on a lot of the cheaper stuff you see for sale. I mean quality so low that the items aren't even useable. I've got one right now I have to return.

I rarely use my "acog" but it is nice, and I can't ever see myself parting with it. Mine has green crosshair reticle, and it's a lot of fun for plinking. Good for hunting, too.

Yeah, very much so. And yet, you see, even on this site, people buying $40 and $50 red dot sights for $1500 guns ! I just don't get it. Many things about the cheap sights, even if they do live for a while, that are so much better with a better built sight.

I buy my sights as if I was buying for a firearm. Out in the world, doing what they do. There's a couple of guys on Youtube that before buying, I see if they've reviewed that particular sight. Although, I've seen enough of their video's, I can kinda fend for myself for picking many sights now days. But the ACOG learning is new to me, so back to watching videos again.

I'll see if curiosity finally gets the better of me !?

Yep, either a parallax issue, focus or reticle issue. I think I did have to adjust the focus on the front lense using a lense wrench on my "acog" but no issues since. I have an rmr teijicon mini red dot knockoff as well, and it's very accurate, but there's slop in the adjustment, and the battery doesn't last much more than 3 months. No power switch. To make matters worse, you lose zero every time you change the battery. I got 2 more with power switched and the parralax is so messed up, they're not useable. Came from China, so I just binned them. I have some other cheapish red dots, and my main issue is the dot size. The dot gets distorted from astigmatism, but I have been buying Riton red dot sights lately with a much smaller (2moa) dot, and it's far more useable. I can hit very small targets very easily and with great precision. And the brightness goes waaaay down for extremely low light conditions. Everything about them is better. A prism sight would alleviate the distortion issue. But these have been doing really well for just over $100

While I don't have any of the RMR's, I did end up with a couple of the Trijicon, MRO's.

They are kind of a mixed bag. While the dot is fairly round, the glass is very clear, It doesn't seem to be in focus, at any distance, using "one" eye. Very odd for a "dot" sight. If you look through it while closing one eye, bad focus. But if you look through it with both eyes open (like you should!), then your brain does a good job of providing a pretty clear focus.

I just bought a Holosun HE530G. VERY clear glass, round dot, and NO focus issues, one eye or two. AND it's made of Titanium, so it ain't gonna break !

I like trijicons for close range , I prefer the EOtech xps 3-4 with a G33 magnifier over the ACOG and I loke the Trijicon 1-8 scope for mid priced So like i said for same price as a ACOG with amber chevron around 1k in 300 blackout , I rather buy the Eotech XPS3 3-4 and the G33 flips away and is a very good magnifier , Glass is very good , I have liked aimpoints t-2 and H-2 great battery life like leave on for a yr ,great for protection also the Eotech can be used with NV it is compatible ,

I would stay clear of China knockoff stuff , I would rather save up and buy good glass also you can swap them to other guns , the ones I saw were terrible , If you hunt you want best glass you can afford ; that is clear to you To me a scope is more important then the gun it is on

Ah yes, the ol good..."glass" term.

I've got two EOTech sights. A red one, and a green one.

I've had the red (512) one for a long time. I had the same ol thought that many do, that don't understand the way that they work. Then a few weeks back, I watched a Youtube video that concisely explains the EOTech and the way that they work. I'm a changed man !

One of the things that I found on my own, was that if I turned the brightness level down, the sight became much more acceptable to me. That was also a part of the video that I watched.

I bought a green one (XPS2-0) a couple of weeks ago. I put it on my sorta new Taipan Compact.

Overall, I like the HE530 Holosun better though. Here's one of them -
