Just a personal rant about classified ads

Laziness or arrogance are, I'm guessing, the 2 most common reasons for low data listings. Arrogance from the 'if you've got the $ to be shopping for a Ferrari of PCP's then you already know what the Ferrari will do'. I research like crazy before I buy, so sure I know what any given model I'm interested will do but each gun is different and I think we've all stated we'd like to know the specifics about the one for sale.

Pay Pal behaves like it's the world's largest unregulated bank and I refuse to deal with them because I've been burned in the past and know others that have had worse experiences than me. The only time I use Pay Pal is either when I'm making a payment to a go fund me account or something like that where I'm not getting any item in return or exchange for my payment, or I'll use my wife's Pay Pal credit line account because it gives me 6 months to get the item/check it out before I have to pay for it. The last time I used that was when our tv died and we needed a new one, quick. Instead of getting a Best Buy credit account I just used her Pay Pal credit account as Best Buy accepts that as payment.

I've bought and sold air gun stuff on line and I would rather put up too many pictures and write too much about than not enough. I'd rather have every question answered via my listing than field the same questions from 10 potential buyers. I guess if I was a scammer I'd want the questions because that would open the door for me to use sales tactics to try and close the deal. But then you'd have to know what you're selling; you couldn't be ignorant.

This scammer problem has really been bothering me. I have a few things to sell, but have not put them up for sale until I can get comfortable. A few years ago some friends and I that were building airplanes sold a bunch of airplane parts. John handled all of the transactions and I did the shipping. Was talking with him about it and he told me to just use Western Union. Said they are in about every check cashing joint so easy to find. Payee goes in and pays the amount giving them their information. Then contacts the 2nd party and gives them the account number. You walk in to any Western Union with the account number and get paid. Quick and easy. Both parties have to provide ID, so that helps. Yes, there is a fee. Seems this would be tough to scam at least the $ side of the transaction.

Western Union is a scammers paradise. You have zero options if you pay by Western Union and the seller doesn't send anything.

Needing an ID to claim the cash won't help you. As we've seen here a few times when people get scammed. They know who the thief is. They even know where he lives and works but there is still nothing they can do about.

I'm no fan of PayPal but as a buyer, at least you can open a case and get your money back if you don't receive the goods. As a seller, it's not so good but I can't think of any better options.
