Results June 10 TEXtreme Rifle & Pistol Field Target Match Report

Thirteen shooters took advantage of the opportunity to get quality, high-level competition practice for the upcoming 2025 TEXtreme Grand Prix and State Championships to be held (weather permitting) Friday through Sunday, June 6-8. Last Saturdays rain-date match featured lovely, partly-cloudy weather, mid-70s temperatures, and typical for TEXtreme tricky winds.

All thirteen shooters contested Saturdays Rifle match. Derrick Wall confirmed his game still stellar, prevailing for the Match Winner hat-pin with an impressive 38/40 score. Derrick shot an Athlon Aeres scoped .30 Kalibrgun Cricket 2 Tac, firing 56 grain Zan pellets; presumably near the 100 foot pound power limit. Outstanding shooting DW! 👍

John Tafoya prevailed in the 36/40 tie for second place virtue of the tie-breaker (most perfect, 4/4 lanes). JT cleaned seven of the ten lanes with his .30 caliber Red Wolf topped with a Tract Optics scope, and shooting 45 grain AEA pellets 905 FPS. Great shooting, John!

Caleb Dickenson used a SIghtron S8 scoped .30 Scout Evo, shooting 56 grain Zans 875 FPS for third place. Good shooting, CD.

Nine shooters contested the Extreme Pistol FT match, shot simultaneously on the same course but different targets as the rifle match. The rifle course was mid-thirties Troyer difficulty, the pistol course low 40s T.

The far target on lane 10 was mis-ranged 10 yards short on the scorecards due to a Match Director brain-fart. Consequently all the pistol shooters were given credit for two hits on that illegal (59 yard) target. To add injury to insult, upon discovering his scope magnification at 20X midway through my third lane:oops:, the match directors only option was disqualification.👎

Derrick Wall added the Pistol Match Winner hat-pin to his Rifle pin with a fine 36/40 score. Derrick’s .20 caliber Brocock Commander P wears a Discovery VT-T scope, and produces 805 FPS with 13.73 grain JSB pellets. Awesome shooting, D!

Caleb Dickenson came second in the pistol match with an excellent 32/40 score. Caleb’s Brocock Pathfinder shoots 13.43 grain .177 JSB pellets 795 FPS, and wears an Athlon Midas Tac scope. Great shooting Caleb.

Jim Clarke was third in the pistol match with a 31/40, shot with a Hawke Opticed Brocock Atomic firing 16 grain AA pellets. Good shooting, Jim.

Two shooters shot Fun Rifle Class on the pistol course targets. John Tafoya posted a 35/40 score with his .177 Daystate Red Wolf, shooting 10.3 grain AA pellet 930 FPS, and topped with a Sightron S3 scope. Buddy Walters was just a point behind with a 34/40, shooting 10.34 pellets 880 FPS in his Continental scoped .177 Daystate Wolverine.

Here’s hoping the upcoming 2025 TEXtreme Grand Prix and State Championships to be held Friday through Sunday, June 6-8 enjoy as nice weather as did last Saturdays matches.🤞 Y’all come, ya’ hear?

Happy Shooting,
Ron & Maggyy
