Events July TEXtreme Bench-Rest Match Announcement

Shooting Enthusiasts,

Per our usual, first-Saturday of each month schedule, and notwithstanding substantial rain(s), our next TEXtreme Bench-Rest Silhouette match is this-coming Saturday, July 3. Remember, we are now holding the TBRS matches at the Central Texas Rifle & Pistol Club located at 384 Range Road, China Spring, Tx. 76633. As shown on the attached map, CTRPC is 11 miles down FM 2490 from Ranchito Robinson.

Non-members are welcome to enter the match or spectate, and the gate will be open for the match. Upon entering the gate, the first structure on the right (within about 30 yards) is the sign-in shed. You do not sign in. Take a right immediately after passing the shed and park perpendicular to the long metal wall about 30 yards from the sign-in shed, that you’d drive through if you kept driving straight.

Our match start-time is 2 PM, following completion of the Rimfire Bench-Rest Silhouette match and another rimfire match that start at 9 AM on the same range and firing-line as we’ll use. Should the rimfire matches attract record turnouts, there is a possibility we might have a short wait for them to finish. However, given our 2 PM match time, that is unlikely.

Bring your own drinks and snacks. Though there is a soda and bottled water vending machine on premises, it isn’t always in service. There is an excellent Mexican restaurant a few miles from the range, where we usually have a group meal after the match.

Reminder- three of our four target distances are increasing! We used to shoot chickens at 40 yards, pigs at 60, turkeys at 77, and rams at 100. The new distances are chickens at 60 yards, pigs at 75, turkeys at 90, and rams at 100 (still). However, less tricky winds than those at Ranchito Robinson, and rock-solid shooting benches on a concrete slab should help minimize our ‘growing pains’. We will now be able to shoot relays of 8 shooters, rather than just 4 per relay.

Truth is, once Derrick Wall realized he holds both the 35 and 80 Foot Pound class records at Ranchito Robinson, he bribed me (handsomely) into this change of venue (to insure his records stand forever). By the way, you’ll know you’ve found the new venue when you see my new, bass-boat-glitter magenta Bugatti Chiron.

See Y’all Saturday,

Ron 254-253-1239
