I recently got a 177 rifle and three different kinds of JSB pellets to try out: Diabolo 8.44s, RS Diabolo 7.33s, and Monsters. (I also got some CP heavies.)
Both kinds of JSB Diabolos live up to JSB's reputation. They look smooth, and the skirts are round and cut straight. So far they seem to shoot very well. (I've only shot the 7.33s on low power and the 8.44s on medium.) But the Monsters are awful. They have a weird texture on the sides like brushed stainless steel, not the uniform dull texture you normally see on pellets. Many of the skirts are bent, and they're covered in little flakes of lead.
I've seen a few reviews from recent years saying Monsters used to be great but the quality fell off. I guess they haven't straightened it out yet. Either that or the vendor is still selling old stock.
Are similar pellets from other manufacturers worth trying, like H&N Sniper Magnums?
