I would like to try this slugs on my impact mine is the first batch smooth twist barrel, but before I would like to know if my rifle can shoot them at around 950-970 FPS the rifle was tuned by Ernest Rowe to shoot 33.95 gr around 850 FPS.. any input will be appreciated.. thanks

From what I have read the original smooth twist barrels do not shoot slugs well. All of the STX barrels shoot a few slugs well and the slug liners shoot many more.

My Gen1 .22 with 500mm shot the KO very well, for some unknown reason., out to 200yds.

Just try a tin in .217 and see what happens. Never know.

Think Ted's Bier did a test with a smooth twist barrel, and some slugs in one of his videos at "holdover V-log", and the result was not that bad. Might check it out.

I try them in my standard cricket in 216..they shoot great even when I know it has to be below 800fps ..
