JSB Hades - Frangible Hollow Point

Here you guys go. I have been playing with them and so has Tofazfou. I took a squirrel and hit it in spine. The area of the spine where I hit it was completely shattered. No pass thru. That was 15yds doing 727fps/18.65fpe. They don't fragment, but they do open up like a mechanical broadhead. Travis from AGD got "Biohazard pellets" from me when we were talking at Shot.

Below is a pic of the retrieved Hades from the squirrel compared to an intact pellet. Also the Hades Tofazfou shot into glycerin soap.

How about accuracy, how do they compare to regular pellets? I'm sure another 200+ fps will make them fragment.

After looking at those pictures more I am going to guess tofazfou was shooting them a little faster. The petals have pulled out much better, so I doubt they are really going to break apart. On the plus side though they do seem to open at lower velocities and they are opening with an aggressive shape to them making for good cutting and tearing. This should have a slight advantage over just a round Hollowpoint. So what will be the most telling if these will have a place in the airgun world will be if they can perform accuracy wise.

thx monkeydad for the info and pics,,you the man!.From the info I don't see these as frangible pellets. It did not fragment.Fragmentation has certain expectations? These r deadly on small game for sure. But it did'nt fragment, sending shrapnel into the immediate area.Fragments of the lead pellet should have been found of say 3/8ths" from the pellet. The pics show the pellet as maintaining it's mass after a close and powerful impact in (ballistic gel?). I think it's just a gimmick really. A good old Daisy FP from 20 years ago would give a quick, lethal result, imop. And wadcutters really do a number on the birds and rodents, and headshots are particularly effective with wadcutters, just has a slightly reduced range.

Sorry all. I don't get on the forms much anymore. As said earlier they shoot just as well as the 18 grain. The container should be in this week. Customs isn't our friend. The .25 should be in by June. I am pushing for them in 30 caliber and 357 caliber. Here is a hundred yard group from Travis of AGD...

Thank you for the info. Please push for heavier weights also. There are lots of high power guns on the market now and a 20gn .22 would be awesome. 16gn is good for low power guns.
