JSB Exact Monster .177 - 13.4 gr.

I bought a tin of these and attempted to zero with them at 15 yards with my Gamo spring gun. I couldn't believe it! They were all over the target like a shotgun blast! I thought something had come loose with the scope but going for the easiest fix first, I went back to the pellets I had been grouping well with (H&N Barracuda 10.3gr) and started grouping again. The only thing I could figure was these pellets were too heavy for the gun. Any thoughts?

.177 13.42 gr JSB Monsters.

At the Olympic International Shooting Centre in Sydney on Friday I shot a 249/250 on the WRABF 25 shot target which has a 2 mm 10 dot/ring at 25 m / 28 yards. This was shot in the Australian RBA Benchrest Grande Prix event Friday 13, the first elimination trial here in OZ for the 2017 World Cup and European Championships in Slovenia.
Twenty four 10s and one 9 in the < 20 fpe class HV, relay 1, card 2.
First card was 246/250 so a 495/500 aggregate.
My RAW TM 1000 was shooting them at 705 fps for 14.8 fpe.
The wind was swirling and it was pouring rain and small hail fell just as my 20 minute card time was closing.

These pellets are being used by a few of your top USA bench rest competitors who did very well using them at the recent WRABF World Championships in Brisbane (held every 4 years).
Because of their very high BC for a .177 pellet (around 0.03 depending on the barrel) the Monsters do very well in wind.
My RAW TM 1000 has an LW barrel. ...... Just to give balance to the responses about this pellet. .... Kind regards, Harry.

Yes, I think so, especially with the USA shooters with HV Thomas rifles. I might be the only one here yet though. Other than some of the USA Team, there were a few others from different countries that shot them in the HV Class at the BR World Championships in July.

I recently switched back to the FWB barrel on the RAW TM 1000 and lifted the power to 17+ fpe and 750+ fps. If anything the rifle is shooting them even more accurately. I think it is well capable of shooting 250s outdoors 25 m . Had I done this before the Grande Prix shoot I may have joined those few who shot a 250 in that wind and rain. The point I lost in the second card was sooo close. I size them head and skirt to 4.50 mm and Yrrah roll just to be sure there aren't any odd ones. Only found a couple out of those I prepared for the Sydney shoot.
Best regards, Harry.
