Hi All, Just wondering if I'm the only one that is unable to buy them with the head size needed for your rifle lately ? My rifle shoots its best with a pellet with a 4.52 head,
The pellets that I get from P.A. have a large white bar-code sticker on the bottom and no small red tag with the head size and lot number like they used to have,I purchased 8 tins from them and after sorting for weight which is another matter but not as important in my findings I have only about 60 pellets that I can use in a competition (4.52 &4.51). I realized the cans say 4.50 on the outer label so I cant really complain but the reality is there are about 1000 4.50 1000 4.49 100 4.48 and the rest 4.47 and 4.46
After finding the results of those 8 tins I thought about the post that Tomcat made about AGA having all if the sizes in stock for the EBR competition so I bought a bunch of tins from them in the largest size they claim JSB makes 4.52 and began sorting again only to find them to be even worse finding only ONE 4.52 in the first tin I sorted with there being only about 20 4.51 and about equal amounts of 4.50 4.49 4.48 and 4.47 and a few 4.46 head sizes in the tin marked 4.52
Needless to say I am thoroughly disgusted and overstocked with pellets that are useless to me! I have talked to reps from both of the suppliers and been told it has been this way for a long time!
I had a couple of tins of H&N Barracuda match that had 4.52 on the rear label that I had tried when I first got my rifle a year ago for testing but didn't think they shot quite as well as the JSB's at that time. I checked them finding they were all 4.51 and 4.52 heads which I can live with but they really don't group as well as the correct head size JSB's do!
I am contemplating trying to get another barrel that is smaller inside than mine but I don't know if that is a viable option? or even if its possible for a barrel maker to tell if it would be smaller? Just wondering what you guys that sort pellets have found. Jeff Little McMurray Pa.
