Seven shooters contested our January 7 TEXtreme Bench-Rest Silhouette Matches in slightly cool, windy conditions. One shot his first TEXtreme Bench-Rest silhouette match, two were new to all TEXtreme airgun competitions, and three were named Jim.
I instructed the new guys if they couldn’t recall someone’s name just call them Jim and they’d probably be right. Thank you Ben, John and Billy for making the trip. I hope y’all enjoyed your first BRS match.
You might think three Jims of seven shooters might represent Jims on the podium in proportion to their number. You’d be wrong.
Two shooters contested Slug Class, four shot 80 FP Class, and six contested 35 Foot Pounds. Jim contested all three classes.
Jim shot high score on the day of 32/40 to take the overall Match Winner award with his Midas Tac scoped .22 AGT Vulcan 3 slug-gun. He shot 40 grain H&N slugs at 925 FPS to beat the tricky winds. Great shooting Jim!
Jim was second in Slug class with a 26/40, shot with an audibly leaking
.22 RTI Prophet 2 wearing a 5-30 X Vector scope. Jim shot 25.5 grain Zan slugs at 948 FPS. Fine Shooting, Jim.
A guy named Jim
won the 80 Foot Pound class with a 29/40 score. Jim shot a Sightron scoped .30 Daystate Safari, shooting 44 grain JSBs 850 FPS. Excellent shooting, Jim.
Jim was hot on Jim’s heels
for second in the 80 Foot Pound class with a 28/40. Jim used an Athlon Tac scoped .30 FX Impact, shooting 44 grain FX pellets at 870 FPS. Jim also nabbed a ten-in-a-row
pin with his fine shooting. Good shooting, Jim.
The 35 Foot Pound class was captured by Jim with a fine 29/40 score, shooting a .22 Daystate Safari. Jim’s rig wears a Midas Tac scope, and launches 18.1 grain JSBs 920 FPS. Great shooting in those tricky winds with a 35 foot pound rig, Jim!
First-time TEXtreme competitor John Killen took second in the 35 FP class with an excellent-for-conditions 27/40.
John used a Cabela’s scoped .22 FX rifle shooting 18 grain pellets 920 FPS. Excellent shooting, John.
Third in the six shooter 35 FP field was Jim with a 24/40. Jim shot 18.something grain pellets 930 FPS. Good shooting Jim.
What? Not enough information? Jim WHO?
Oh; guess I spaced-out some last names.
Purely an oversight. Surprised you noticed. How ‘bout a few clues?
Jim often wins two classes, but this might be his first hat-trick (ALL THREE CLASSES). His last name is Martin, and Chuck Norris calls him SIR.
Jim is relatively new to shooting competition and new to Slug Class, so his second places in Slug and 80 FP classes might be cause for concern (for his competition). His last name is
, but spelled with a Y. (Hint- Byrd)
And Jim’s third in 35 FP class is further evidence he is always a force to reckon with. Jim Clarke is and excellent shooter; also a gentleman of the highest order.
Sorry this match report is a bit late. I was preoccupied watching my Dallas and Fort Worth football teams getting brutalized.
Made me feel a little less humiliated by my BRS showings, though!
Happy Airgunning Y’all,
Ron & Maggyy
