It's a MAGAZINE

I don’t remember hearing anybody ever saying that on this Forum either. Although I had seen people use different Termanology of other parts of the gun. And mostly it’s people that are new to airguns. It never bothered me as long as I knew what they were talking about even in the powder burner world.I have known excellent mechanics that use different Termanology.Like calling an Adjustable wrench a crescent wrench. To me a clip is like a stripper clip that’s used mainly in older military type guns.

Yeah I don't think I've seen anyone here refer to it as a clip until now, I think your sanity is safe here. Just beware the rabbit holes I hear they are deep.

Ffrom another thread:

After another twenty minutes I had the gun back together and held my breath as I put air to it. Ah, a relief no sign of a leak anywhere. Filled it to my 2k and then remembered I had the large #10 grade 8 screws holding my valve so took it up to 2,600psi still no leaks. Inserted a clip and fired off a couple of rounds. The gun seems to be shooting a bit hot even though I set the reg to 110bar.

I stand corrected, I remember seeing that one now.

Ahhh, so you saw 1 POST and figured the entire airgun community calls it a clip! Makes total sense now.

Here we go! Miss use of words makes me nuts as well. Yes you load your 1903 Springfield with a clip called a stripper clip but you load the cartridges from the clip into a internal magazine in the rifle. You load an M-1 Garand with a clip which stays in the rifle until used up and then it pops out. The M-14 and the M-16 use detachable box magazines but those magazines could also be loaded from a clip. A British Enfield rifle is the same as a 1903 Springfield. Most semi auto pistols use a detachable box magazines but even the manufacturers many times call then clips. Even some revolvers use clips too like the 1917 colts and Smiths in .45 cal.

Confused? Generally, I say generally, a clip usually has no moving or working parts where a magazine on the other hand has a spring and a follower and so forth. Many people call magazines clips. So what is a magazine/clip on an airgun? I am not sure. I suppose that if it has a spring in it and revolves it would be a detachable rotary magazine. If it has no springs then is it a clip? I don't know. It has movement so again it still could be called a rotary magazine

Yea it drives me a little nuts but it is not the only thing. Clip or magazine, at least I know what you are talking about.
