Yes if you buy one used for a deal. BUT if I was going for a 3-18 I'd be trying to save weight and looking for other alternatives, otherwise I'd go for more magnification on the top end.

Really heavy scope and overpriced IMHO. It is your hard earned money though.
You might want to try one of the two Crimson Trace on sale for less thsn half price at MidwayUSA. They have 10 yard focus roughly $450-$499 sale with $1099-$1199 regular price.
The Tract Torics are better if you are into heavy scopes with 25 yard focus anyway.
I mention Crimson Trace and Tract Toric specifically since you seem to like Heavy Japan made scopes.

I just picked up an Athlon ETR, and it's def a nice piece for sure, but that's probably a bust for size & weight. Athlon has other offerings as well that might fit. You can also check out the Bushnell Elite Tactical DMR II PRO 3.5-21X50. There are a lot of great options in the 2K range. As Odoyle said, the Tract scopes are more than likely the best scopes on the market for the price.

Lighter weight, 10yd focus, wider FOV than the Tract is the Element Nexus.
