Tuning Is this normal for a Huma regulator?

They have since changed it to [possibly unsafe] psi. I don't have a 5000 psi compressor so I don't fill it to 5000 psi, just to be clear, and even if I did, I don't think I would based on your feedback here.

Even so the reason for contacting them wasn't fps but gauge accuracy.

Anyway, I don't have a compressor that goes to 5000 psi, (I use a hand pump that goes to 4500 psi) and based on information presented by good people in this thread I am not concerned about even 4500 psi.

What kind of scope and bipod came with it?

The scope is an MTC Viper Pro Tactical 3-18x50mm and the clutter on the reticle is probably not accurate except at one zoom that is not an end point. (See here: https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/mtc-viper-pro-tactical/)

I don't really like the scope...but that is because I don't need to shot out past 100 yards, too many features. I am more of a fixed focal length scope kind of guy.

It also came with a metal bipod that seems to this newb to be perfectly high quality. It is metal. Locks back. Seems good.

I was just reading on the huma site about their bulldog reg kit. It says the maximum output pressure is 190-195 bar. Idk why pitbull sets them at 200 bar. Operating outside of pressures it was designed for just to squeeze some extra power is stupid. Lower the reg pressure to 190-195 bar like huma says. *It will still put out enough power to kill a yote

Therefore, this could be considered a "home made", untested, pressure vessel. In the case of any failure of the system due to over pressurization, the liability would fall on the end user. 

However, the OP states that, through an email, the retailer specifically instructed him to fill this rifle to "4500 or 5000 psi" which could place liability back on the retailer, should anything fail due to over pressurization, in this instance.

Okay, I just another email to these guys. I'll try to call once or twice if necessary tomorrow.

It looks like they set the regulated pressure using this tool, and not the printing on the side of the regulator. 

I'm still learning, but I guess that is what the person I spoke with on the phone meant by a "special tool".



By the way, with my chronograph and 135 grain I am getting about 905 fps. Does seem to be an air hog but that is a lot of energy.
 
I decided to look for other threads after replying to your other thread... I have the DIY extended tube and regulator on the way. I also know that my stock gauge agrees with both my hand pump and my compressor so I'll know more soon. By special tool I'm sure they just have a long screw driver. It seems like yours is set too high and I'd guess that the stock pressure gauge is actually correct. It's shameful that they didn't give you the stock air tube, then you could change it back and pump to 3000psi, this would tell you a lot.



Only other thing I can think is that they sent you one of their super power version which is only around 3 to 4 shots regulated, not the more practical 200fpe versions with 10 shots.



What I can tell you is that the valve parts are cheap, and working on it is not that hard, the only part that is somewhat expensive is the barrel at around $120, but you shouldn't need that. The stock air tube and caps might be a bit of money too.



I'll know more in about a week when I have my upgrade and time to fool with it.
