Is this Crosman Powermaster a Franken-gun?

I just rescued this poor thing for $25, and a 45 minute drive each way to get it. It looked better in the one crappy pic,,,lol. It was at an estate sale. Today was the last day and they were having 75% off. Thank God. All though it's in poor mechanical condition it looks good enough I wasn't going home empty handed,,,lol.

I think it might have been pieced together. The receiver screws were all loose, the stock was about to fall off, the bolt has no tension, the square loading button is all jerked off, and the the bb chamber button won't budge. Other than that it's in decent shape,,,lol.

So it's all metal, has the screw on sights, the brass bolt, and heavy synthetic stock and forearm.

It was made in Fairport. Is has a 8 digit serial number on the bottom of the receiver, that doesn't fit the chart. It's # 04245425. It also has a 44 stamped on the right side receiver. I think this means warranty work?

It seems like it wants to pump up, but doesn't. After some pumps I get a little puff that just happens with out me doing anything besides pumping. And sometimes I can hear a little click, just from pumping.

So obviously this thing is hurt and needs to come apart. I've watched a video and think I can do it. What have I got to loose,,,lol.

Does this look like it's pieced together? What Has me stumped is on the forearm/barrel cap it has a 93 stamped in it. I think the gun is older than that? Maybe that part has been swapped out?

So what can you guys tell me about this one? Thanks.

Nice find! I have three different ones. You can find serial number info at crosman.com.

The stamp on the pump pivot "9 3" indicates that that part of it was made in September of '73. The heavy plastic stock and forearm are also of that era. The serial number on the receiver indicates that it was made later, so yes, it's a bit of a frankengun. That said, fix it and have fun shooting it. Who cares?

Try feeding the pump a couple of spoonfulls of rubbing alcohol, pump it through and then add some non-detergent oil. You can search for 'airgun alcohol flush' and that will turn the process up. It works. Sometimes...

You can find a roll pin for the pump pivot at the hardware store. Replace it soon as that bolt is wearing the pump-arm out. There are youtube videos on rebuilding them, so you're in luck. A greased 4x8x2mm o-ring will serve as a replacement for the quad-seal.

And no, you didn't get screwed.

Back many years ago when the Cricket was just a Rumor, Everone had there 1000 to 3000 dollar guns bragging about 25 yard shots now this was on another form and FX was not even sold in the states maybe some of you old farts remember that form (T.T) ,Now that was back when you could say FLAME SUIT ON and no one could flame you, LOL I dug out my 760 slapped a 200 dollar scope on it and shot a dime size groups five shots at 25 yards . I posted all kinds of pictures up with what my 24.95 $ rifle smooth bore could do, I got a lot of hate mail but I bet the sales of the 760 shot up, LOL. I was just making a point you do not have to spend big money to shoot accurate at 25 yards, I tried at 50 yards but I couldn't post them up, had to save face, But now with slugs just maybe, LOL.

That brings back memories. Mine looked exactly like that one, at least until I made a new forearm out of walnut and burned my initials into it in an Old English font.
I had mine up until 2011 when my house burned. :-(

Sorry for your loss.

The 760 was my gateway drug. Thanks to a kind older brother. His was lost to time, but I found eventually one like it.
